One answer to HCV transmission via mosquitoes

In answer to the question I posed on HCV transmission via mosquitoes, the following is one link I found to an article which finds this does not occur and why:

the more I think about it and read old 52 tele's posts, the harder I find it to believe that he wrote the space D4 thread on women. That was a huge distance from the way each one writes, day and night. you don't think he was joking when he said he was space d4?  Those writing styles have few similarities. I tried to find the original post by the D4, but it seems to be blasted out of the internet. Still, the early writings of 52tele don't even come close.  I guess I am hoping that he was joking with his statement, and I guess I find it very hard to comprehend people's extreme personalities issues. With spacecoast, the style was ALWAYS the same, even when the name changed, he was always, direct, kind of rude, but not obscene and cruel. Space d4 was cruel and 52 was not, or did not show himself to be, it is hard to think of them being the same. Trying to understand here.
we need to connect different memories from several members and come up with a picture, not just a broken puzzle. I tend not to keep much in my memory banks, that is not needed on a daily basis.
take good care

I swear to the Big Guy above that I never have a clue about the day. My kids have almost convinced me to stop treatment lately in order to shorten my time here on earth. Joking a little anyway. Dale

I'm not exactly sure why, but it appears as though the virus is unable to replicate within the mosquitoe, which appears to make it different than other Flaviviruses (such as West Nile, yellow fever, etc.).

What was interesting was that this study did actually include mosquitoes captured from infected patients homes and compared the findings from them to those mosquitoes which received HCV infected blood in the lab.

They have to give you your test results.  They are YOURS.  I get copies of every single test taken.

The girl here just came over and asked me how to get them...so maybe I'm making progress with her.  She's in the "I'm afraid to question the doctor" mode and actually had her boss (the CEO of our company) go in with her to ask questions.  Boy oh boy...I'm just trying to teach her you need to manage your OWN disease because in that way...things don't slip through.

I have to say it's very aggravating to watch someone stumble around blindly like she is.

It makes me appreciate the VALID and IMPERATIVE advice I've taken in here all the more.  I can't explain how absolutely much this forum has changed my course of treatment for the better. I owe so much.

So glad to here that we can't get HepC from mosquitoes, that's one thing we don't have to worry about.  LOL  I think we have enough to worry about.  Hope your doing well.

I'm glad to know that it can't be spread by Mosquitos but I still enjoy giving them a drink and seeing there reaction. A mosquito makes a really funny noise when it spits! Dale

I guess I initially began to wonder about it out of concern for my family members.  My wife tested negative for HCV, but we haven't tested the kids yet and would like to do so simply for added peace of mind.  But we also want to do so in such a way that we do not unnecessarily trouble them.

Heck, they don't even want to be around when dear ol dad give injections himself let alone consider taken injections themselves outside of a docs office.  I might thought the teens would have liked to see dad have to punish himself by turning himself into a pin cushion a couple of times a week <G>.

I've been watching more closely lately to see if I can make the same observation as dale on riba loaded mosquitoes kamakazing into walls.

How are you doing?  Hope the sxs are getting better from the last time we talked.  From your post sounds like your feeling better and that you have your humor back.

I have a lab appt this Friday to get to get my blood count/thyroid checked. And on the 7th I had my four week PCR.

Since they will have my file out I'm going to ask the nurse to make me a copy of my last lab (the pcr) because I'm really excited to find out.

I have gotten copies of every other lab so I'm sure they'll give it to me. BUT if they don't(and try to make me wait for Dr.visit on the 28th)They should be ready for a WAR.

I don't think you need to worry about your children if your wife is negative.  HCV can only transmitted to children at birth through the mother.  hope this eases your mind.  my husband is negative & so are 2 of my 3 children.  my youngest got it through me at birth.

How old are your kids?  I'm sure they are just perfectly fine - I had mine tested not because I wanted to but because I just couldn't NOT.  I figured it was too important to know not just for POM (peace of mind) but because if it was true then I'd need to make sure of their liver damage etc.

Don't think about the bad what ifs...they will mess you up and prevent you from doing the mature things in life. I tell you...they sure will ;)

Mine are 15, 12, and 9.

I can understand folks in situations as yours where you knew or think you might have been infected during pregnancy and delivery having their kids tested. But, we've put off testing so far since my wife tested negative, and she obviously had more to do with the delivery than I ;-P

Although these days verbal abuse is considered to be as bad, and sometimes worse than, physical abuse.  Perhaps that's why they started allowing dads to be present during the delivery <VBG>.

LOL you know I'm afraid to death even to yell at my KIDS these days...you ever read in the news about a dad who yells at his 17 year old daughter who comes in a 5am and a neighbor calls the police and they take him away to jail for 'abuse'?

One would wonder what he's supposed to do...but to call it abuse slams me.  What I would do...now THAT would be called ABUSE ;)

(I had to get mine taken to be tested...my daughter was FOREVER stealing my razors and my son had bandaged me up (I'm a REAL clutz) more times than I can count. We were lucky).

I am going to have  mine retested in 3-5 years just to play it safe.  There was that one post that she said she turned positive after 8 years of negative.  That really bothered me.

Thank God it isn't feasible you know?  I haven't read it yet (at work it's too hard to open that many windows) but I am wondering...did they say why you can get West Nile from them but not HCV or HIV?

It's a scary world.  At least if anything we've learned now how to navigate the world of illness.

There is a girl here who I keep advising (get all your report copies, go to a specialist) but she is getting worse and worse (nothing to do with HCV) and she will NOT listen to any common sense advice. She keeps saying "well even though he has no idea what is wrong with me I'll stick with this doctor because he's local" yeeegads.

Give her a real disease and she'd LOSE it.  I'm sick to DEATH of hearing her talk about it every minute (that is why I had to post I'm going to explode right now).
