Peace and healing to you. Thank you for the update.
Hi EyesofBlue55, I'm so sorry you are having to go thru all that~ If you are talking about Ursodiol, I remember taking it, when I had elevated Bilirubin, during my pregancy, because I had this intense itching under the skin, in my upper arms.
I didn't have any ill side-affects from it, and it did lower my Bilirubin~ sending you healing thoughts and prayers <3
Wishing you nothing but the very best .
Cindy,
How remarkable that you have the strength to get on the computer and type. You are an inspiration. As Hector says, your number one job is taking care of yourself right now so I hope you will do that. As you said, you know you hve no choice so you will push through.
My very best thoughts to you

Cindy, I can only imagine how difficult this tx is and how it completely zaps your energy. Hope you have some time to recoup between treatments. Also hope you'll see some positive results soon. Hang in there and thanks for your updates when you're feeling enough energy. Thoughts and prayers to you.
Hi! It is good that you have enough energy to be able to post again.
Do you mean Ursodiol (er' soe dye ol)???
Ursodiol (Actigall, Urso, Urso 250 or Urso Forte) is a bile acid, a substance naturally produced by the body that is stored in the gallbladder. It works by decreasing the production of cholesterol and by dissolving the cholesterol in bile so that it cannot form stones. It is basically a bile thinner. Also it is used “off label” its main potential seems to be a chemopreventative in those at high risk for colon or liver cancers to reduce the risk. Maybe this is the reason your hepatologist is thinking of treating you with Ursodiol? Note: The drug must be taken for months to have an effect.
As you say, now one chooses chemo for fun. It is a very difficult treatment as anyone who has undergone chemo can attest to but IT DOES KILL CANCER TUMORS and still it is the best treatment we have currently. I am glad you have started treatment to fight your cancer. You have a good attitude dealing with the chemo and side effects. I wish you all the best during your next round and hope you get a early and clear response to treatment.
It sounds like you are feeling the affects of "chemo brain". This is normal though disorienting to say the least. Sound familiar?
* Forgetting things that they usually have no trouble recalling (memory lapses)
* Trouble concentrating (they can’t focus on what they’re doing, have a short attention span, may “space out”)
* Trouble remembering details like names, dates, and sometimes larger events
* Trouble multi-tasking, like answering the phone while cooking, without losing track of one task (they are less able to do more than one thing at a time)
* Taking longer to finish things (disorganized, slower thinking and processing)
* Trouble remembering common words (unable to find the right words to finish a sentence)
Remember it is all temporary and it does go away post treatment.
Here are some tips that helped me get through the fatigue of post chemo side effects.
Being “busy” vs. allowing yourself to rest
Society has many rules about resting…and that we should always be ‘doing’ something. Cancer recovery can be a demanding job and being on the couch can be perfect in this situation. There is also a time post-treatment where you may still feel fatigue but aren’t ill anymore. Resting and convalescence is really important then too.
The keys for self-care when dealing with fatigue are:
Learning to listen to your body. Each day, really listen to how you are feeling, what you are able to do and what you want to do. It is turning off the external world in a sense, and going to your internal world.
Acting on it. If you are exhausted, you need to clear your schedule and rest. You may be used to putting the family, partner or job first. But now, it’s the other way around. You are number one and have to put yourself first.
Cheers!
Hector

Keep your inner peace, however you can, pray, meditate, focus on the beauty and love in the world :)
how often and how long do you have to do treatment? I hope it's not for too long, or you at least get time to recoup inbetween treatments.
Youve been in all our thoughts and prayers and will remain to be!
Wishing you the VERY BEST CINDY
