Only 10 more to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi everyone, well did #2 last night, still no sides, good nights sleep, bones aren't even aching this time, think it's working? I have been even more tired than usual this wk, but low and behold, I ended up with upper respitory infection from the pool at the gym where I go. It's really cold in the hallway to locker room. So I've been taking Levaquin all wk, and it's finally breaking up this morning, hope everyone is doing well and take care. Linda

You know Levaquin must be a strange antibotic, because I mentioned in a earlier post I took it before and it made my head hurt so bad I had to take pain pills with it, other times it hasn't bothered me. Just like the Zithromax, I took it once it was okay, tried again and actually felt like I was withering inside my skin, never no more. I wonder if they have varied reactions that just happen sometimes.Anyway take care and God Bless.

This is not HCV related but I could not resist adding my two cents about Levaquin.

I took it a couple of years ago for an ear infection (perforated ear drum caused sinus infection and an overseas flight).  I was supposed to take it for a week and after about 4 days, I was totally losing my mind...nervous breakdown kind of thing. It was really scary and I was scaring everyone around me.  So, I stopped it and was fine a few days later.  Turned out it wasn't working for my ear infection anyway and once I got on augmentin, I was fine.

My reaction was pretty rare but after doing some searching my hubby found out that others have experienced similar problems. I know it is a very effective ab for many people but I will certain never take it again and will be cautious about other antibiotics in the same class.

Gastro problems are pretty common on tx but I would discuss it with your doctor. Could be a gastritis or reflux/GERD. You're not taking any PPI's (Protein Pump Inhibitors) like Nexium by any chance? I got the gas/gurgling sounds when I tried them. If you do end up taking antacids/anti-gas meds, just try and space them a few hours away from the ribavirn.

Hello to all. I have a question regarding side effects while on tx. I am on week 17/48 and I am having severe stomach gas (I hear my stomach making gurling noises throughout the day). I wanted to know if anyone else has experienced those side effects?

Thanks in advance.

Linda:

I have been following your posts and I am so glad to hear that your sides are not bad, you have a lot of other worries and do not need any more problems...hope it is smooth sailing all the way through to your transplant.

Chell:

I will keep your sister in law in my prayers, and yes God does work in mysterious ways...thank you to all the donars families too!

So glad for your sister-in-law and thank god for all the people who are organ donors, just think how wonderful it is in times of grief like that that people can still say, let's help some other people live, the strength it has to take. I'm glad she's doing good and my prayers are with her. Linda

my sister-in-law just got a kidney transplant the day b4 yesterday.  she's been on list for over a year and they beeped her 7pm on wed. she had transplant by 7pm on thurs.  all is well.   she's 55 and been very ill for a good 10yrs from untreated diabetes;  she also needs a new pancreas.  but we're so thankful this kidney came thru; however bittersweet.  a very young boy (12-15) was in an accident and turned out to be a perfect match.  God works in mysterious ways.  our prayer are with his family and ours.   good luck to you!

Glad you are better, I saw where you were in hospital last wk. levaquin is nasty anyway, sometimes I can take it and it makes my head hurt so bad, but anyway glad you are better, as far as 12 wks we are just trying to get viral load to go down to do transplant. Then if we can I can hopefully finish treatment after I get my kidney. They said something about if you're gonna be a responder with the genotype 1 they can usually tell by 12 wk PCR. Thanks Linda,            Note to jmjm530, thanks for answering, and the words of wisdom. Linda

Of course it's working! That tired feeling is the peg interferon doing what it does best -- killing the virus. Hopefully, w/o riba your sides will stay as is. But like you say, just ten more to go. :)
