PEOPLES THOUGHTS ON TREATMENT AFTER LUEKEMIA

I POSTED YESTERDAY AND WAS HOPING SOMEBODY HAS GONE THRU TX AFTER THEY HAD GOTTEN LUEKEMIA. STILL NO COMMENTS. NOW CAN I ASK  ANY THOUGHTS ABOUT IT. GOOD-BAD-CRAZY

THANKS FOR YOUR TIME. RAMBLE ON, ALL INFORMATION IS GOOD. I WILL HAVE A HEPTOLOGIST, JUST WHICH ONE I AM NOT SURE. MY PREFERED DRUG WOULD BE SIMEPREVIR. SHOULD BE APPROVED IN OCTOBER. I WILL START TRIPLE THERAPY NEXT MONTH WITH THE IFN/RIBA AND WHEN IT COMES TIME FOR THE INCIVEK. I HOPE TO PLAY THE LUEKEMIA CARD AND GO OFF LABEL WITH THE SIMEPREVIR. 4 MONTHS TX. AT LEAST THATS THE PLAN. IF NOT THE NEW STUFF WILL BE OUT NEXT YEAR.

NOW MY VIRAL LOAD IS 150,000 AND HAS CLIMBED FROM 33,000 IN JUNE. I AM GENO TYPE 1A. STAGE 2 FIBROSIS IN NOVEMBER 2012, NEVER TREATED. I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO FIND ANYBODY THAT HAS ATTEMPTED TX AFTER APL. I WAS RECENTLY UPLIFTED TO FIND OUT THAT THEY PREVIUOSLY TREATED THE LUEKEMIA I HAD WITH RIBA/INF. THE CHEMO I HAVE DONE WAS ARSENIC TRIOXIDE. MY BIGGEST QUESTION WOULD BE WHAT ADDITIONAL SIDES COULD RIBA/INF GIVE THAT THE ARSENIC DIDN'T? WHAT SIDES WERE NOT SYMPTOMS BEFORE TX? SEEMS LIKE EVERYONE SPEAKS ON FLU-LIKE SYMPTOMS, FAUTIGE, CONFUSION. HELL I HAVE THEM NOW FROM THE AMMONIA. IS IT THE DESEASE OR THE CURE?   THANKS FOR YOUR TIME,

YES I AM IN REMISSION FROM THE APL LUEKEMIA. I HAVE HAD HEP C FROM 1980. I BELIEVE. FROM A TATTOO

There actually is lots of support on here :)
Is your Leukemia in remission or what? If you went through treatment for Leukemia then I would say you are starting off Triple therapy with more insight than lots of us had. I see you are a Geno 1 and stage 2 fibrosis. Might I ask your overall health or your age? How about your lifestyle? It can make a difference if you have to work while treating. Also are you being followed by a Hepatologist and an Oncologist? Which Protease Inhibitor (PI) are you going to take? Incivek or Vicrelis?

It would help to know this as well since each med has its own side effect profile. Plus it might help estimate your treatment duration. Have you been prepared or told anything yet? It can be overwhelming if you do not know what to expect.

The fatigue and malaise on Incivek was unreal. Never in my life had I simply not had the desire or motivation to do things i enjoy such as playing with my dogs. It was weird. Thank Heavens that part only lasted 12 weeks. Then there was having to eat 20 grams of fat three times of day with the medication. That was Incivek as well.

Sorry to ramble this was all just to give you an idea how many facets there are to this treatment and hope maybe you could be more specific.

Hi, sorry,  I dont have any experience with doing treatment after having luekemia.  Why dont you give some more information and maybe someone can jump in and help.  for instance, do you currently have Luekemia or not.  are you possibly in recovery from luekmia treatment, What genotype are you, state of liver damage , have you ever treated before , how is your bloodwork, I did not look at your previous post yet.  Maybe that info is there?   If not spill whatever beans you have on yourself and the subject and maybe if no one has experience, someone can give a a direction to go in.
