PERIPORTAL LYMPH NODES THAT MAY BE REACTIVE?

I just had a CT scan of the abdomen and it all came back good but in the last sentence of the report it says that there are shotty periportal lymph nodes that may be reactive.I llooked back at other CTscans and MRI from over two years and they said the same thing, this is the first time that I notice it. Are these periportal lymph nodes caused/part of liver disease?

Spoke to radiologist and he said that about 40 % of patients with liver disease have this condition. The word reactive means the lymph node is enlarged trying to fight infection, most of the time they can tell if its malignant and the report would recomend to look into it.

Hi Fred, I can understand your concern.  My US has always said I have a peripancreatic fluid collection. It says mine is stable. I think it is because I have diabetes.
I looked up Periportal Lymph Nodes and found that it is a normal finding for people with liver disease.
You could still contact your doctor to ask questions.  I am sure if it was something to worry about he/she would have mentioned

Hi Fred, I am certainly not a radiologist or doctor of any kind. However, I think that inflammation from the hep C can cause reactive periportal lymph nodes. Please make sure to ask your doctor. I believe that since this is not the first time these have shown up on your scans, that if it were important the doctor would have told you.
