POst tx Ankle edema, itching-worried!

by ghille, May 09, 2003 12:00AM
I'm about 3 months post tx and lately I've noticed edema in my ankles and insteps. It's been subtle, almost to the point that I thought I was imagining it.

I just started a job where I'm on my feet all day and by mid morning my ankles look like balloons. It's scary. Plus they and my insteps itch like I was on interferon. I realize standing can do that, but I've stood for long periods in the past and never had edema. I have not, for any reason, had lower leg or any other edema. The edema mostly goes away overnight but they are still puffed up in the morning. I put my legs up at night.

I was planning to wait till September for my 6 month PCR. Now I'm thinking of doing it now. I'm frankly a little worried. If I did not clear in 5 months as a 2a then what would that mean, since it's the easiest genotype to clear? (guess it would mean I didn't clear!) I resolved never to do tx again. Now I read from the forum that Pegasys is doable. Oh gawd.

Has anyone either on tx or pre or post tx had edema of the lower extremeties? Maybe I'm just being paranoid. Maybe I'm just aging. Maybe I need Depends and support hose. Otherwise I feel wonderful, energetic happy outlook.

Thanks, sally
