PT. TIME TESTS

PT TIME TEST !  For about a year now everytime I barely bump against something, I get black and blue. If I just scratch myself I bleed so much. My doctor did a PT time test, he said it wasn't bad. Does the Hep c cause that or the liver itself? My arms are so scared up now it looks like I take blood thinners.

I don't think I'm anemic right now. I recently had a load of blood work done by my pc doc. Everything was fine, he says. Except for the viral load being now 5.9 million. Last time I had that done was about 4yrs ago. It was only 850,000 then. So it has went up some. To say the least. I just can't seem to get any straight answers from my doctors of why I bleed so much when I just scratch myself. Or why I turn black and blue from a little bump.

I've thought it about alot, I guess going back on TX again is really all I can do. If I want to try to beat this thing. I've done both Interfon and Peg-Intron. I get anemic within about three weeks. Even the Procrit didn't help. Another thing is I hear the older you are the harder it is. I'm no spring chicken at 48yrs old. And everytime I try to get in a study, I get turned down cause I took the tx for more than two weeks.

Are you anemic?  If so, I think that this will caused increased bruising, at least it does in my mom's case.

I know it is so weird. My doctor can't even answer if it's the Hepc or what. Glad to hear you are post 2months. How is your viral load now? I tryed treatment twice, I couldn't hang. Either time. It made me so sick.

Funny you posted this, I had the same problems with my hands and now have scares from it.  Don't know if the Hep C is the cause, but it's aomething to think about.

BTW, since I'm 2 months post tx, I no longer have the problem.

I did not have clotting issues, but suspect it does have to do with Hep C... because they always check it prior to a liver biopsy but not other biopsys......

hhmmm bustingout?  perhaps a PPL fan?

Your not alone, I was sick on the meds but stuck it out.  I'm still UND and my ALT is 13 and AST 23, at the end of the month will do my 3 month post PCR as I had a PCR done 2 weeks before ending tx and 8/26 will be 3 months.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'm still UND.  Will you do tx again?

I had that too before treatment so maybe it is caused by Hep C because the only thing that has changed is I am on tx and have no detectable virus now, but I still have the liver damage. The bleeding at any little scratch and bruising at the slightest bump has gone away completely.

You not staying on tx isnt due to you not being able to "hang" it is just too rough on some people and they have to stop. It's the drugs, not you!
