Having the dull RUQ pain and unending fatigue was what led to my diagnosis in 1994. Doctor had already run all the gallbladder tests and GI tests and all of that was negative for diagnosing the pain. That led him to run a test for Hepatitis Panel and voila, I was diagnosed. Susan400
yes, but moderate and sporadic.
I should qualify that he does now have severe URQ pain but that is not unexpected with Stage 4 liver cancer.
No pain.
No pain at all, even though my husband had hcv, cirrhosis, and an almost 12 cm HCC (liver cancer). Through the diagnosis process, every doctor was amazed that he didn't have ANY upper right quadrant pain whatsoever. The surgeon and his nurse who removed the tumor were actually the first to point out that the liver has no sensation of pain. However, in hep c, hepatomegaly (swelling of the liver) in acute or progressed disease may cause painful pressure, and gall bladder disease, not uncommon in hcv, so there are other 'associated' causes of URQ pain as well as non-associated causes.
Oddly yes I have had right quadrant pain for over 2 years and was about to get my gall bladder removed but referred to GE for hep c tx instead. I have finished 5 mths of tx and am UND but just had pain again yesterday. Stones may be cause but glad to get rid of virus too.
Only during acute phase onset. Identical to HAV and HBV acute phase onset. Also identical to pain of gallstone caught in common bile duct. Talking about doubled over, curled up, someone just took a baseball bat to me pain.
Yes and I was told it was the gall bladder but have no test confirming it yet
No serious pain but the area does tend to be sort of vaguely uncomfortable. Discomfort was occasional before Tx, is frequent since I'm on Tx. I've had HCV for 30 years and have stage 4 cirrhosis.
Hey James,
I don't think so. I do, however, have a tendency to get gas pockets every so often, and it sounds like a similar pain. Here is a thread I thought might interest you:

Hi Will all is well with me. I'm just wondering about this symptom.
Hope all is well and happy TG!
James
Have felt something since starting and ending tx. Not pain, I simply know where my liver is at now , where-as before I never felt anything in the liver area
Yes, dull pain just at the edge of the ribs
No, my husband does not have pain. He is beginning Cirrhosis.

Yep for a number of years. After they ruled out gallbladder disease and cleared an upper GI, Hep C was dx'd. Still get pain frequently.
Yes, Turned out to be my gall bladder. This is what alerted me to my HCV status through the blood tests. jm
No. And I have stage II liver cancer and End-Stage Liver Disease.

Nope, and I had decompensated cirrhosis and landed up having to get a transplant. I did have swelling from my spleen.
The one time I had pain close to the area it was muscular.
A massage took it away.
Never had any pain either
Nope, and stage 4 here.
Stay well guy
no...me neither James..
Hope all is well with you...
Will
Never do unless it's a pulled muscle or a stomach ache.
Never did even at stage 3 for 20-25 years.
