oh yes, i have panic attacks and anxiety -- have been to the ER twice thinking i was having heart attack.  some studies have found hcv in brain and neurological system.  also, the liver has several functions which can affect mental/emotional processes including release of glycogen into bloodstream and manufacture of hormones.

next time you have a panic attack take deep breaths from your diaphragm, hold a few seconds and exhale slowly.  repeat until you calm down.

Best wishes,

Kittyface

I don't have hep c but I do have anxiety and panic attacks, I've went to the er  quite a few times thinking I was dying. They are HORRIBLE!!!!  I feel for anyone who has to suffer with them. KIM

Make sure if you do start treatment your doctor is VERY aware of the anxiety attacks because they can and probably will be exasperated (spelling sorry) by the Interferon.  it would be a great idea probably if beforehand you discuss the possiblity of taking Paxill or something of that sort as well.  My doctor started me on it a month before he allowed me to start treatment - interferon can cause major depression and junk like anxiety and it helps offset it before it comes.

I was very glad he advised me to take it.  It helped a LOT during treatment.  I never realized even I probably had needed it all of my life and just never knew it.  It REALLY helped me to calm my ever ranting worrying brain down big time.

my x wife has more then once said  "billy maybe you need to be on some anxiety medication ...your 55 and since you were 15 you always either smoked pot or drank" i say that may be true but i never really did that much...and she says "but you always did something to relax you"...i stopped drinking 1 to 2 beers a day in feb this year...my light headedness bothers me the most and the anxiety isn't fun either....it is getting a little better as time goes by and i watch my diet...i don't take anything...my x had hep in 72 and i think i got it in the late 70's...we did have 7 great kids so thats neat..none have hep yet...we are both geno 1..she did tx and cleared the virus....for me heart rate exercise and enough sleep helps a lot...i wish i could do better with this....i've goten so used to waking up at night with bad dreams that i'm doing better now ...as soon as i wake up and my heart  rate is way up there... i know its just a dream real fast and can kind of control it....anyway good luck...lots of folks have much worse things to deal with then anxiety...billy

Yeah - I have panic attacks... Feels very uncomfortable --- especially when under stress - or need to deliver to someone face to face.

I'm great on the phone - on the radio - but face to face - sometimes I have definite panic attacks.
Much less since TX.

Still there - but seem to be lessening.

It happened about 7 years prior to tx... and every once in awhile - I'd just get a jump in pulse --- and feel hot --- and as if everyone can read my mind (I know that they can't - but I feel like they can) and I feel like I'm going absolutely bonkers.

But lorazepam during tx helped tremendously - and it seems to be adjusting way down.

Kinda weird.

I'm glad they are going away. I think it has to do with the liver handling toxicity issues - and sometimes when the liver isn't functioning properly those chemicals can cause them.
