Panic attaks during tx

by Timer1, May 25, 2007 12:00AM
Maybe somebody can suggest how to avoid from panic attacks then I sleep during tx. It happens twice in my tx way (35 week) - I woke up in night with high heart rate and in big unrecognized worry. I couldn’t sleep until morning. Have someone met such sides and how to avoid from it in future ?

Call your doctor get Xanax ASAP. Don't worry about getting hooked. Just do it. Stopping Xanax is way easier than TX anyway, so don't worry about that.
Have your heart rate checked and your platelets too. What's up with your doctor why aren't you getting help from him/her? Tell the doc ASAP. If you have to, go to an emergency room, they will give you some Xanax or Valium or some kind of anti-anxiety drug to hold you over until you can get to a pharmacy with a RX from your doctor. This is not unusual, I get it too lots of people do. I have a prescription for Xanax and it really helps when your anxiety levels go up and you can't talk yourself down. It's also the drugs we are on remember these are SUPER strong drugs with SUPER strong side effects. Don't be shy, just ask for an anti-anxiety medication, make it a little easier on yourself. You don't have to suffer. We suffer enough from this virus and with the TX.

Good Luck

Guess something else to look forward to down the line after a few shots.  Now only aches in muscle and bone from meds and that doesn't seem as bad. Got to leave for work in about an hour and think I said yesterday the same thing, don't feel rested after nine or ten hours in bed. Wonder how many stay working full time?

I have to tell you , I used to have that happen to me all of the time in my regular pre=treatment life.  I've got lots of problems and well they did almost drive me crazy with anxiety.

A month before I started treatment the doctor put me on Paxill 20mgs.  I never realized that I should have been on this stuff all of my life.  Truthfully, I just didn't think it would do anything at all - that it was like a placebo or something. But it DOES.  I just don't get those knots of panic in my gut and all the racing thoughts in my head all night any longer.

I also am on Ambien and that helps me sleep too.

I feel SO MUCH better!

I would ask your doc about something like xanax for the immediate panic attacks and also to put you on a good antidepressent (Paxill 20mg worked for me - started on 10mg and then went up) and a good sleeping pill as well.

It's hard enough to sleep during treatment without THAT happening to you.

I hope that he will help you out and do these things!

Good luck!

ativan takes longer to hit you than xannax but  it last longer and is stronger, its the only thing that got me through the 48, its a chill pill so you dont have to take it everyday if you dont want, it also helps you have a more relaxed sleep...

Lexipro - worked well for me during normal tx and will use again during study. I start in a couple weeks and will update to let you/others know.
