Peg Intron and Infergen together

2 weeks ago I started on Peg Intron once a week and Infergen 3 times a week. Is anyone currently on this cocktail? Please respond if you are.

I had this tx before my 98 weeks of daily 15 mcg with riba.

Good luck and all the best

wow man thats something amazing.

sometimes i thought to myself what a combination of pegasys AND pegintron would do to the virus, with riba of course.  perhaps doctors should look at that too.

Wow I Have to admit in all the time I've been on here I"ve never heard of this one. I guess the two interferons are different - one being long term the other not I can't really understand why not just do daily Infergen but maybe the doctor has some logic going on.

Did you ask because this is extremely unusual to say the least.  Must be hell on the system to boot.

I guess because I've been on everything else for so long and failed to UND that I'm just an experiment. I did asked and he really said that the Infergen would be a boost for the Peg Intron. I will question him more when I return next week. I'm sure it's my choice and I'm considering going back on the norm and doing the 72 weeks thing. Or wait on the Protease. I just don't know if I want to wait on the next blood work to see if it actually works or not. Well ... let me take that back. I don't think I could do 72 weeks. The mental gets to me tooooo much. I'll keep you posted how this does and my decision.

I'm probably a test. I've tried all of the other tx...i.e. peg/riba etc. for 4 years. I don't know how he came up with this but I'm willing to try it. I'm not on the Riba. It seems he figures the Infergen (which I know is an Interferon) will act like the Riba and boost the Peg Intron. I was just hoping I wasn't the only one.

How do you get both paid for?  Since taking the two has to be off-label, was it difficult to get your insurance to pay for it?

Strange but I haven't paid for anything yet. I have Blue Cross and it's always paid for my meds but they haven't charged me with anything this time as of yet. I'll just have to wait and see. If it works I'll find a way if Insurance doesn't pay.

I've not heard of this combination before.  Are you taking ribavirin as well?

Could you explain a bit about your situation, and how your doctor came to prescribe this treatment?
