I hear you about feeling weak!  Have fun with the pilates ball.  It makes it a little easier to get up and down off the floor :-)!caruu

Thanks honey, I'll go pick up a ball and start slowly. I feel so out of shape right now...I thought it was great over the summer..since I had lost weight and didn't mind being in a bikini. But we were on the boat and wake boarding alot so I felt in shape as well, Now, after not hardly working out for the last 6 weeks..... I feel weak and flabby....especially flabby..although I don't have extra weight ...I just feel like my skin hangs on me....I guess at 46, this is what I have to look forward to anyway....but try and try... I want to look as good as I can for as long as I can....is that vain...Hahahahah. Thanks for the comment  :) berlynn

I have worked out with a Pilates instructor in the past (for a couple of years) and I know I would not be able to keep up with it while on tx (and dealing with hyperthroidism).  I have a Pilates ball that I use at home for minimal stretching and leg lifts.  It helps to keep the body moving, even if it's just a little bit. caruu

Would you believe that I have all 3 of the Windsor tapes...ordered them from the infomercial......but after watching the intro and beginner's tape....I was afraid that I might do the exercises wrong, without benefit of an instructor. I don't have the energy to go to an outside class..(usually far from my house..as we live in the desert booneys, so to speak)...I have been going to Curves..although that has slowed down in the last 6 weeks as, I have not been feeling the greatest.I have also been doing some light yoga.
* After reading all of your posts, I have decided to get out the tapes and try again.... So I need to ask a few questions:
Those of you who are doing Pilates now....Do you feel that the Windsor tapes will guide me well enough to use the correct body positions????
As I have not been exercising on a reg basis lately and at 5'5" I am now about 120lbs as I have lost quite a bit of weight on TX....I am worried about having enough strength to do the exercises correctly...What do you think???

Ral...OMG I thought the exact same thing...Hahahaa.....Certainly a logical mistake.....brain gof or no...whoops...I meant BRAIN FOG.....or was that a BRAIN GOOF......sorry..I can't help myself...gotta find the humor whenever it presents itself these days.....hahahahahaha....thanks, berlynn

I thoroughly enjoy doing my cardiokickboxing, tho i've slacked off lately, and remember gaining strength and balance while doing Tai Chi (as well as a sense of peace)
.  Just some other alternatives.  There is no huffing and puffing during Tai Chi, but you gain a lot of muscle strength.

You can buy Pilates videos or DVD's @ Sams Club or discount stores for much cheaper than the Windsor program.

I bought a Pilates for beginners @ Sams and the DVD was only 10.00.  Its a focus, stretching, excerise program that was originally designed for dancers.

It's nice exercise for the mind and body.

If you are interested in Pilates you might want to read a few reviews before you purchase a home vhs/dvd. Although I love Pilates & did it throughout my TX & post TX, not all Pilates tape instructions are created equal. In your search look up Paula Z

I'm glad this topic was introduced.  I jotted down a phone number and website address a couple of weeks ago after catching a few minutes of an infomercial for a pilates video.  I remember thinking, hmmmmmm, that might be a good exercise alternative to do at home when I eventually start treatment.

I think I'll order it today.  Here's the contact information for any of you who are interested:

I started yoga over a year ago to limber up cuz I was stiff and sore from what I thought was due to getting older. It did help but I was still plagued by back pain, especially during stressful times so tried Pilates to build up the "core strength" they focus on.It has worked wonders,no more back pain, more energy, better posture. Have only been doing Pilates since Nov. but wouldn't think of stopping. Think it will be a real asset as I start my fight against HepC.

I think I should say that it it pronounced Pih-LAH-tees.  I wouldn't want you going to get a video or join a class calling it "PIE-laytes"!!  :-)

It's an exercise method. You could look it up on the web to get an idea of the approach. Mike
