Platelets Have Risen and other post

I received a call back from the doctor late Friday and my platelets had risen from 58 to 80 all by themselves. He is not sure why but said they may have hit their bottom and started building again. I started the double dose of Nupogen Saturday night and hopefully it will increase my white cell count soon. He doesn't want to do anymore blood work for two weeks now. Just to let all of you know. Glad to hear something is rising. It seems like platelets find low and high thresholds during tx and bounce between them, seemingly without reason and pattern.  Stay away from sharp objects!

Agree w/ FLguy, platelets seem to bounce around on their own, though mine never swung as far as yours. Just when you think you have a trend in one direction, they seem to take a turn.

Are you doing the Neup twice weekly? As I mentioned, from my experience, the CBC levels depended largely on when the shot was taken relative to when the CBC was drawn.

Good luck. I know too well that this stuff can be pretty stressful. Especially the platelets since we don't have a safety net.

That is wonderful news!  I am glad to hear it.

Did you see the post about the lady raising her platelets by exercising right before she had blood drawn?  I thought that might be a pretty good idea.

Glad to see you post.  I am glad to see your platletts are up.  My counts went up, by themselves twice in tx.  They were worried about my platletts a few weeks back.  The next visit they upped all by themselves.

I posted Saturday, was concerned as to who was in Tenn. after all that devastation with the Tornado's.  Dyce came in and let me know that you were around Memphis. I hope that no friend or family was affected.

That is such great news!  I have been thinking about you, and how bummed you must have been.  By the way, did you run before the test?  That seems like such a great thing to do if one's platelets are low.

That is great news and also happy your alright .  We sent you a few posts to make sure you and your family are ok given all the tornados in your area.  So being your posting I would think all is fine.
So that's good news on both fronts.  Congratulations!!

I was quite concerned over the weekend.  I kept seeing the devastation on the news.  I remember Katrina and Rita and all my family and friends.  And, just think, they say the tornado's were only a cat.3, not that, that is mild, because it's not.  But, to think that it could have been worst.  I was glad to come in here this morning and finally see dale ray post.  Is he the only one in those areas that post the forum.  I am thinking not.

What happen to your ankle.  And, I must have missed the post on Nygirl.  I will say an extra prayer this evening for things to get better.

Hey Everyone:

If i don't repond to anything you guys send me its because I miss it down inside of the postings, which I try to keep up with looking through this fog covered brain.

Several had asked about the storm situation here in Memphis area and it was pretty scary. I've visited some of the areas and it looks like Gulfport after Katrina. Lot of people have lost family members and all they own. During last Sunday night I walked out to watch the sky due to Tornado warning. My wife was sitting by the window watching the weather alert and storms really make her tense. I walked up to the window and started beating on it real hard (the window can-do) and needless to say I have a new name and almost a new address. Thanks for asking.

I didn't have a chance prior to blood work to try out the running or walking briskly routine to help platelet count. I will give that a try next week just to see what the reading is.

Someone asked about the Nupogen and I am taking 300mg a week now and have been instructed to take in 24 hours after taking the Pegasys (friday night). The stuff always works so I'm sure it will this time.

EVeryone is right its like following the bouncing ball on blood count readings, energy (never good but some days better), breathing, joint pain, etc, etc, etc. We all know.

Thanks to the flock again, Dale

I don't think he's the only one from that area, but can't remember who they are.  Have no idea why my anle is swollen but it's been 4 days now and I'm back in NY so will see dr. tomorrow if no improvement.

NYGIRL hurt her ankle because she fell up the stairs.  She e-mailed me about it, that's how I knew.  Don't think she posted it on the forum.

We all need to pray, also for a better trent in weather and that more post tx PCR's stay undetectable.  After this pass week many relaped, some after a year post tx and some were geno 2's.

hope your day is going well,

Good news Dale, I think it's time for good news for all of us.
I am really in a melt-down for the 1st. time that I can remember, I am sure their was others. I need words of encouragement and where better to go than this site. After 2 relapses & now on maintainence, I feel as  if their is no other options available at this time. It is a helpless feeling & I am sure that there are others in worse shape than me, but I cannot seem to shake this feeling today. I have no energy, no desire to do anything and I really feel as if depression is sitting in big time. I am on 2 antidepressants, effexor & neurotin. Maybe it's time for a change? I wanted to go off totally but my Doctor says no. I have never been depressed in my life or taken anything for it. My sleeping pattern is totally messed up. I am up until 2 0r 3 a.m. and sleep until about 8 a.m. I am taking Remeron. I just don't get tired enough to go to bed at a decent hr. My eating habits have gotten progressively worse and I still have a sore mouth, muscle aches and problems with my legs & feet. They go numb constantly. I have had every test imagineable with no outcome. Wah-Wah=Me. Sorry for this, but I had to get it out & did not want to speak to my family about this.

You are a geno 2, yes?  I know that just rocks the boat when you hear of relapses.  I am a 1b, and I worry sometimes.  Hope your ankle gets better, let us know what the doctor says.  How was your 15 shot.  I got a few sx, chill, fever, headache and some brain fog on Saturday and Sunday.  Just the kind that makes you feel yuk! you know.  Shot 13 and 14, I did not have a single side.  Funny how this tx works.  At least, I did get my vision back for the most part.  I think getting a cool air humidifier for the house helps my eyes and my skin stay a little more moist.  It also, has a little hum to it, when I have it on; so at night it helps with drowning out the ringing of the ears.  Nygirl is such a sweetheart; she does not need more bad luck.  Hope she is okay.

Hope your day is going well.

Glad to hear all is well; and I guess you do have a new name and lucky not a new address.  If I were your wife, I would still be beating on you. JUST JOKING, LOL

If there is anyone you know of that needs help after that disaster this weekend; let me know.  I have no problem in sending supplies.  I know alot of churches etc. get involved in the recovery efforts.  If you know of an address locally, please post it.  Anyone, you know personally that has been displaced by this storm let us know.  I know what kind of devastation that was; my mother and family were directly involved with the aftermath of Katrina and Rita.  Sometimes the public is quicker at responding than the government.

I'm sorry that you are feeling so low. I need to tell you that I was elected as forum whiner in January so you can't be a whiner. You sound like the whole thing is catching up to you. I was so down with many of your side affects until my doctor figured out something to make me sleep. I laid and starred at the ceiling most nights all night long. I couldn't shut my brain down. Ambien and Lexapro did it for me. doesn't help with ankles and feet and hip pain but at least I am rested when I start whinning. I am on my second round of treatments. The first one I did not respond too. There is so much going on in the medical field and so many promising developments that I think they will have a guaranteed fix for Hep in a few years. I believe that. Hang in there and when you need to talk this is the place. Everyone cares, everyone. Your in my thoughts and prayers. Dale

Thank you so much for the sweet offer. They've set collection points up at several Wal-marts and it looks like plenty of supplies are coming in. Insurance people have been quick to get in and settle. CNN had to go and pick the FEMA suppervisor up the other day to prove to him that another tornado had hit another town. I guess they try. I went to Gulf Port area after Katrina and worked with Disaster Relief which is independent of government and it was really something. I probably had one of my sadest days there. Seems like the storm hit the hardest where they had the least. The independent groups were doing a better job than the govenment was. We were run out of town by Rita. My favorite part was sneaking out at night and stealing diesel fuel for the Red Cross food trailers knowing if I got caught they'd have to help me. Military trucks are a good source too. Those boys will help you drain it. God bless you. Dale

Alright Dale Ray; you go guy.  You do what you have to do in certain situations.  As long as you are doing in the name of good; you will be forgiven.  Bless you for being so involved with Katrina and Rita.  Rita hit closer to my mom and family; but they only had minor damage to their things.  My mom got fully involved with her church and ladies auxillary; they did alot of good for alot of people.  My home town's estimate of growth for the next 15 years, happened in a month. So, have all the other towns along I-10.  Sad thing is, the goverment has not supplied; for more police, firemen, Emergency Responce.  Disasters are not over when the storm blows through; it is around for many years to come.

Psst:  Little secret, I would have put my combat boots on and been right long side you on draining those tanks.   Whooo Yaa
