It means you may have been exposed to hepatitis c at some time in your life. About 15-25% of people who were exposed to hep c are able to beat hep confection on their own with no treatment. But once exposed you will test positive for antibodies to hep c for the rest of your life.
What has your doctor said?
To find out if you are currently infected with hep c you will need an additional test called a HCV RNA by PCR test which looks for the presence of the virus in your blood.
You should discuss this with the doctor who ordered your test they will determine what additiinal testing is needed and wher you need to go from here.
Just to add I am not a medical professional just a person who was previously infected with hep c until I was cured with one ofthe new treatments. There are no medical experts here we are a community of patients who are or were living with hep c and dealing with treatment.
See your doctor and come back if you have any questions. We can try to help you understand what your doctor has told you.
Good luck
