I would not at all be ashamed to compare my record of charitable giving to yours.
And believe me, I drink plenty of water---it's Kool-aid that I reject...

your absolutely right, but you can't help but feel bad for people that think like that and get so frenzied when ever anything relates to Jesus.

take care

I do not see anywhere within that poem "that suggest that all should believe in concepts such as "sin", "salvation", etc." as you claim.  As you so adeptly pointed out with your incessant need to count the self references and number of lines that the core focus appears to be upon ones own self and their relationship with their "Higher Power".

It is odd that you feel compelled to jump in with your intollerant postings objecting to another exercising they Right to freedom of speech while exercising that same right to foisting your political views upon others.

As the title of this thread seems to be quite clear what type of content one might expect from the posts to it.  I certainly hope that noone is holding you captive and forcing you to select and read posts with which you might take offense.

Nowhere have I tried to force anyone to accept my beliefs nor convert them to my faith as you frequently claim.  However, it would appear from several of your postings though you are either trying to convert others to your beliefs or trample upon the rights of another to exercise their freedom of speech to express theirs.

As for the poem, I can not speak for the author, but for myself I can say that it encapsulates my recent experiences and that I found the self references quite appropriate because I believe what His Word has to say about in the end I will not be held accountable for what my wife, kids, mother, father, brothers, sisters, you, or anyone else has said, thought, or done.  I will be asked to stand accountable only for "MY" own thoughts and actions.

Since you opened it up:

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not shouting "I'm clean livin."
I'm whispering "I was lost,"
Now I'm found and forgiven.

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble
and need CHRIST to be my guide.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak
and need HIS strength to carry on.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed
and need God to clean my mess.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible
but, God believes I am worth it.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I still feel the sting of pain,
I have my share of heartaches
So I call upon His name.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner
who received God's good grace, somehow.

it looks like MH might be putting a thread limit again, after the feeding frenzy of the latter months.
just in case, please be considerate of the threads, and limit the waste.  Someone tried to post a question today and was told that the limit was reached, and here we get this useless thread, that wasted someone's chance for a question.  This might be the reason why MH is going to start limiting the amount of questions asked daily, because it has become a playground of sorts and it has lost a bit of authority in the medical forum field, when visitors come into the board and click on a thread link and see this, what kind of credibility are they going to expect?

What a self-involved poem (above)!  "I"- "I" - "I"...35 references to me, me, me, in a 28 line poem.  Maybe it's time to move beyond the drama of ones personal conversion story and just live a life of compassion and generosity.  No need to draw attention to individual beliefs that suggest that all should believe in concepts such as "sin", "salvation", etc.

it's good to know that they are limiting threads again, as a prime thread waster myself, even I can't believe the amount of sillyness that goes on here, good, bad or indifferent...and too much negativity as well...sometimes I have to remind myself there are a lot of sick people here, needing support and information, which, afterall, is the ultimate purpose of a Hepatitis C Support Board...

Forget it myown.  You can lead a horse to water but can not make them drink.

Some fail to recognize that rejecting a sin but not the sinner is different than stirring up fears.  They also seem to fail to undertsand that the love of money is the root of all evil, which is why they are fine of the government extends it's hand into their wallet to redistribute the wealth but they seem to have trouble taking the money out of it themsevles and giving it to a charitable cause.  Their love affair seems to prevent them from seeing who was first and foremost in aiding the victims of Katrina or in helping the starving multitudes around the globe.

It's interesting to note that those who tout freedom of speech, tolorance, and equal rights only do so when it is the speech, rights, or type of tolorance they agree with and scream the loudest when these same liberties are used by others contrary to their position.

It is interesting to see the Truth that all remains a mystery to them until the scales fall from their eyes.

No thanks.  I'm not interested in what James Kennedy has to say.  He and his ilk make big bucks from stirring up peoples' fear of homosexuality.  The Sears guy, along with James Dobson, declared that SpongeBob Squarepantsi s gay and threatens the fabric of American society.  What nonsense!  I sure hope you're not being bilked out of money by such people.  Now I see where you're coming from, and it doesn't seem like a place of Christian love.  You've allowed yourself to be manipulated into a place of fear.

I think I'm done here, myown.  I don't think we'll ever have a meeting of the minds, but I do hope you enjoy a complete recovery from HCV...

A lot of people agreed on voting day that the Republicans have damaged this country, but you just "stick to your guns" since that seems to be where your comfort level is....

Oh Joy. Just when I said nothing was going to ruin my colonoscopy free day, this thread comes along, which ironically shares a lot with the state of my colon, and why they postponed the procedure. Lack of proper preparation leaves me full of you-get-the-idea.

I'm tempted to get 'revved' up and prostalize about my own beliefs, but that would only make the people who don't share those beliefs uncomfortable. And I don't believe that would be fair, since we all share this space. Of course, were I running a MLM system, well I'd probably be compelled to be more vocal.

Why are you posting that here? Tell Maya, she wrote it. It amazes me how crazed you get,,,you even counted how many lines in the poem. You have to ask yourself "why" sometime as to why you get so disturbed. I know you believe in diversity, because after all isn't that what Democrats preach?

Have you noticed that none of us, that you may consider as the religious right, ever complain about all the shots taken at Republicans and politically sensitive issues? WE TRULY believe in the true meaning of diversity and don't get bent out of shape when people disagree with our views. But I've noticed that you never come out when someone is preaching politics? If I knocked Hillary or some other socialist,I mean Democrat,I bet I'd hear an earthquake over their on your side from a few of you stamping your feet.

see ya

Re: the ACLU-

If your newly elected Muslim mayor displayed the Seven Pillars of Islam outside of City Hall, the ACLU would bring a lawsuit against the city.  Would you be opposed to such a lawsuit?

If your child's school expelled him because he had HCV, the ACLU would bring a lawsuit against the school district.  Would you be opposed to such a lawsuit?

Few people agree with everything the ACLU does, but it exists to defend the personal rights of American citizens.  Each person would do well to do independent research on issues rather than merely receiving the opinions and beliefs that they are encouraged to hold by their churches and other institutions.

goofydad~~~You're funny!  So sorry about your postponement.  How annoying.  Hey!  The title of the thread is Politics and Religion.  I think a little controversy is energizing, don't you?

Just to tell ya something....I'm not happy with the way the Pres. has handled things either. I'm sorry I voted for him, to tell you the truth. But had no choice. If he was able to run again, I would vote Democrate, just to send a message. I know I wouldn't be happy with any of the Democrats I've seen either. They don't have anyone who impresses me. Both sides are for the birds, as far as I am concerned. But that aside, if you ever want to research something that may be of interest to you,,check out the genesis of the ACLU. Anyone who thinks the ACLU is a good organiztion should really check out their origin and agenda.
See ya later,
Have a good night.

I wouldn't go to a Muslim country and expect to hang a cross in front of the court house if I moved there and became Mayor. You can finish the rest of what I was going to say. OW,my ears,, is that you yelling all the way from California? lol

Goof,,,you're so funny lots of laughs around your house for sure.

No you certainly would not go to a Muslim country and hang a cross because Muslim countries are not democracies that protect the individual rights of their citizens.  We live in a country where our right to worship (or not) is protected, but what is NOT allowed is the display of religious artifacts in public places.  Christians have the Bible, their churches, fellowships, a multi-billion dollar Christian book and music industry, TBN, and a multitude of online resources, yet they somehow feel like their right to espress their beliefs is somehow abridged by the "evil" ACLU.

I just went to the website you recommended:  The website is from 1961 and asserts that the ACLU is a front for Communism.  Are you out of your mind?  Have you ever heard of the 1950's Communist witch hunt?  Could you please find more recent evidence that the ACLU exists to promote Communism?

This may be of interest because its an interview, which makes for a more interesting read. Maybe if you read some of the shocking things that they have done, that many are unaware, you may see them in a different light. Any group that does what they have done and continue to try to do is not for liberty and freedom. They are looking to destroy everything our country stands for.

Also Dr James Kennedy has some videos exposing the ACLU. He has a website, if your interested.

twisting words..... I don't get bent out of shape if someone has a different belief in politics or religion. They state it and fine. Could care less if someone posts about worshipping a doorknob or alien. I'm not going to say what you say.."ooh ooh why can't they just keep worshipping their doorknob to themselves and off the forum" BTW look at title of thread.

Trying to explain to someone that this is America, land of the free, home of the brave, as I tried to explain to you, is just defending my 'great country' in my little way.

The ACLU and the rest of the liberals have destroyed this country, but I still will speak up about allowing people to express themselves freely. They haven't come to our doors to haul us away,YET.
