also what I mean is 2% of people reporting sticks not 2% of medical field, just to be clear.
Someone posted the % of medical workers that contract hep c from needle sticks the other day and it was low, 2% I think but don't quote me on that it may even be lower, so no need to be paranoid considering there was no blood from your stick, however you should get tested any way to know for sure and give yourself piece of mind
Thanks for the replies...I just use the word "remission" because that is what my teacher says in reference to her hep c infection. I will go for testing , at the moment im just extremely paranoid.
Never heard of someone in remission with HCV..either she has HCV or she has treated and has An SVR (which means she no longer has active infection.)
Regardless of all that...anyone that gets stuck with a needle that has been stuck in anyone else should get tested for all the approriate diseases including HCV.
This is a nursing school and there is not protocols for this ???? Yikes
No blood no chance and there is no remission she is either cured or not, I think she would know which it seems to me that she was cured already anyway.
She needs to be careful...shame on her! I am nowhere near as informed as others on here, but I do know it has to be a blood to blood transfer. I am sure more informed people will answer this for you.
