Post TX Enzymes

3 weeks post tx, feeling much better, just had that weird 10 days coming off the meds.
Just got my last labs, question about enzymes, my ALT was 12, the lowest so far, and AST has come down to 44 over the past few months while on tx, and then slowing every week going down a point and now is 34.
I know that normally enzymes are kinda close together in numbers? Is it unusual that there is this much gap between the numbers? Is a 34 AST and 12 ALT Okay?

Thanks,
Bree

thank you James, I am outside doing manual labor on the property already, kicking b*tt.
I am nervous/anxious about the VL test. Who isn't at this point, right?
Take care,
Bree

Sounds good to me.  When you become undetectable your enzymes will be a much lower normal level, at least mine are. Good luck.

ALT/AST can be all over the place. As long as they are within the normal range there is nothing to worry about.

So-called LFTs (ALT/AST) are not the results to focus on. ALT and AST are not always reliable markers for a liver's condition. As with enzymes levels before treatment, ALT and AST levels vary widely. Some people even with cirrhosis have normal levels. The enzymes (AST/ALT) can go up or down for various reasons besides from the Hep C virus. I time the levels should return to within normal range.

All that really matters is whether the virus comes back (relapse) or not. Viral load.

Good luck. You have a great chance of beating this once and for all.
