Postponing tx for 6 weeks

Postponing tx for 6 weeks

I was going to begin next Monday, but my sister-in-law came down with gallstones and needs to have her gallbladder out in about three weeks.  So my brother (her husband) and I will need to care for her and then, once she's well, they'll help care for me. My hepatologist said a 6 week delay shouldn't have any impact.  I certainly hope that's true.

I know how it is when you're ready to treat and have to delay things. Often the mind tricks you into believing that if you don't treat this instant gloom and doom will befall. I know that was my case when I finally decided to treat but had to put it off a few weeks due to some other health issues. My doctor put it in perspecitve when he said, "Jim, you've had this virus for close to 40 years and you're worried about putting off treatment another 2-3 weeks". That was perspective. LOL.

Be well and hope things work out with your sister-in-law. Certainly sounds like you're doing the right thing for all concerned, including yourself.

Be well,

-- Jim

You could even wait until after the holidays, for that matter.

Be well!

Timing is everything. Wait till you have all your pigeons in a row--I mean ducks.
BTW my son doesn't really know what he wants to do, I think film industry sounds exciting to him. He's a good muscian and writer, he's looking for his niche.
Good Luck, I have postponed twice and am edging closer to that first shot. Probably after the holidays.

My doc took time to discuss the timing issue with both my wife and myself, very important. I found out I had HCV 11 years ago and made the choice to wait. I just finished tx last week, and did so with a minimum of confusion to my loved ones. I did have the agreement of my doctor in my decision to wait. Good luck to you and hope your sister-in-law has a speedy recovery! If she has a laproscopic procedure the recovery time may be significantly less... In any event stay well...  Pauly

I had planed to start tx in Oct 02.
A few weeks before I fell down some stairs and sprained my ankle. It took 4 month to get better. Than I decided to have a bunion on my other foot removed, that took 6 weeks to heal. Than I decided the weather was way to nice, and went rafting and kayaking all summer long.
Than I decided I was done procrastinating, and started tx in Oct 03.

Just this year I was to start TX may 12, and may 10 doc called and told me that I needed to get ahold of my GYN.  I had a ovarian mass that had to come out before I could start.  So TX was postponed. I'm not sure that it made any difference starting 3 mos later at all.  I am now on shot 15 today of 48.  It seems like it was just yesterday that I started.  I can't believe 1/4 of tx is already done.  Take care of your sister-in-law and don't forget to take care of yourself also.  Then you can start TX with a clear mind knowing that Family is in better health and ready to be there for you when you need them also.  Good luck

I was going to start in July but ended up starting the end of September.   All is well so it should be with you too.
