Protein in urine

I just had some routine labwork done & among the tests was a urine sample.  Everything was normal in all my bloodwork, but my urine sample showed I had a slight amount of protein in my urine, 10 mg I believe (the test indicates that up to 9mg is "normal").  My doctor didn't seem worried by it, he's emailed me about other stuff but not this.  Reading about protein in the urine, I found that inflammation in the body can cause protein to appear in the urine.  Could this be from the liver inflammation?  Anyone else run into this?  I can't seem to recall this being posted anytime recently here.
