Prove 3 - 4 Weeks Post-TX; Still UND!

Got the call today that my 4 week post tx PCR is still undetectable!  I don't want to jinx SVR by celebrating...

On Prove 3, I was in the 24 week "Group D" that received VX950. Pegasys and Ribavirin for 12 week followed by 12 weeks of placebo, Pegasys and Ribavirin.

Data I found indicates that if a relapse is to occur, it most probably will happen in 4 weeks post-tx or less.

My hope now is to make it to 12 weeks post-tx and remain UND.  In Prove 1 and Prove 2 people who had the triple therapy and were UND at post-tx Week 12, 100% went on to be UND by Week 24.  Post-tx Week 24 = SVR.

Dang!

I am watching out for these types of posts. Data from prove 3 people.
I will be given the chance to roll-over soon and am getting a bit worried about the posts about PI resistance and interfeon resistant patients.

How many times did you try treatment before this trial. I tried interferon about 6 times prior to this study, at least half of that with riba.

Fingers crossed for you.

as I recall hepresearcher was mentioning stats that having the VX in the initial mix was when it was most critical and seemed to be having the real impact. So you may be fine or even better than fine just having had it during the crucial period when it seems to have the most efficacy........ hands are pointed upwards for you....

For me this is great and impressive news.  It bodes well for all the Prove 3's.  I think that your success may also give hope to many people other treatment failure types.

Keep it up.  We are all pulling for you.

Thanks commarades.

I hope that my postings are helpful and not percieved as boastful.  HCV has done a good job humbling me over the past 4-5  years.

Cheesegrater - I treated about 3 years ago with SOC; PegIntron 1.5 and Ribavirin 1200.  Geno 1b, started SOC tx @ 3M VL; got a 2+log drop at Week 12; slow decline to like 10,000 and then brokethrough at Week 32.

I don't think I'm INF resistant...my local idiot Doctor for my 1st tx wouldn't listen to anything I said about upping or changing INF.  I dropped him like a bad habit and went to IU Medical Center in Indianapolis.  Paul Kwo is the Head of Hepatology....excellent doc who knows the disease and cutting edge treatments.  He's also the only doc who I really trust and like.  My questions and research knowledge were welcome and listened to.

Praying for you, and hoping so hard!  I'm not even calling you a fellow 1b buddy anymore, because you are negative.  Not UND, but uninfected in my mind!

(my taqman test comes back saying not UND but "negative for the hep c virus" - I like that phrasing.)

Thank you for the info.
I have never achieved a 2 log drop during any treatment that had VL monitoring.
The most I think was about 1.4 log.

Your first time to tx sounded a lot like mine and to hear your wonderful news made me very happy for you....plus gave me a bit of hope for my own situation.  If only I could get to Indianopolis from here, I could throw money at your fine doctor too.  I have a pretty good doc here so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for both of us, it's time for better news and better days.  Congratuations!

If all this is just a journey and not a destination, then you should be able to dance, dance dance today and not worry about jinxing anything.  For today, you have found the sweetest spot in the road!  Congrats again.

This is GREAT NEWS.  I found out last week I am in Group D as well. I finish next week. Still UND. This is my fifth attempt at treatment. After I was diagnosed we tested our whole family. Our daughter tested positive. She was not quite three at the time. That was hard... I'm just tired of HEPC.  It has occupied a place in our family for too many years.  I am also extremely blessed because our daughter is SVR. This stuff is hard. So you keep posting and updating because I hope I continue to follow right behind. mom713

I know how you feel; we're sick of dealing with HCV too.  My diagnosis was only 4 years ago but I can't remember it not being a huge issue hanging in our lives.

How did your daughter contract it?
