Question about RNA after short period.

Question about RNA after short period.

Hello, since I am afraid that I may have contracted Hep C recently (3-4 weeks agao) I wnat to know if a RNA test will answer this questions.

I know it is too early to see HCV antibody levels, but what about RNA?

Also should I ask for a quantitative, qualitative, RIBA,  etc to get accurate results and to see even though it was recently.

also what is the difference between rna and pcr?

I suggest you speak to a doctor.  We are not doctors and it is clear that you find our responses unsatisfactory.

A viral load test (HCV/RNA by PCR) will show virus approximately 1-2 weeks after exposure. So the answer to your question is yes, you can have the PCR test now. It should be a quantitative.

PCR means polymerase chain reaction. It is how they measure the virons in the blood. It amplifies the copies of the virus. RNA is similar to DNA. Very simply it is a molecule. I don't understand too much about it. Maybe someone with a more scientific brain can explain that to you.

Stop worrying and go get a PCR.
