Is the pain in my muscles and legs after nuepogen because of dehydration or something else? I notice in the middle of the night I have to get up and drink a couple of glasses of water in the middle of the night.
If anyone has any input please let me know
Thank you
joe

I always assumed it was the bone marrow gearing up to make white blood cells - and that because neupogen caused it to happen SO quickly, it hurts a good bit.  high levels of procrit also cause pain in the limbs.

Neupogen is known to make the bones ache, but if you are haveing to drink a couple of glasses wo H2O in the middle of the night, chances are you are not drinking enough water.  I drank nearly a gallon a day on TX.

I am on neupogen also. My hematologist has explained that no one knows the reason that neupogen causes bone pain in some people. It has been said that neupogen stimulates the bone marrow and that can cause the marrow to push against the inside of the long bones and cause some pain. But your guess is as good as anyones as to why it happens. The good news is that most people get used to the neupogen and it stops hurting.
