I live 100 or so miles from Las Vegas and need a HEPATOLOGIST at this point - not a general gastro. I read somewhere about this doctor. Does anyone know if he still treats us heppers in Vegas and what his phone number is if he does?
Well, how lucky can I get ~~ this is good news after 24 plus hours of crying about the steatosis that showed up right before I was going to start the triple treatment. THANK YOU all for these responses. I will call on Monday.
sorry, my bad. I see the vegas number in the linked article. my local doctors are general gastro. and what is going on with me now requires someone with Dr. Gish's expertise and skills. If I can't see him, I am certainly willing to see one of his associates. thanks again
Thank you so much. I will call Monday. I live about 100 miles south of the Hoover Dam - so I come into Vegas through Henderson - so that's convenient. I will receive a LOT better care than I'm going to get around here in the sticks. I would probably have stayed with the local gastro for the tx (haven't started yet), but now steatosis has shown up on my pre-tx CT scan. It is such a setback (and a real fear factor). I was finally ready to go, so I don't know how this is going to affect whether or not I can even do triple tx. This is scary and throws me into another ball park. I need a hepatologist now, no doubt about it. And I need to talk to someone who is an expert. I'm 65, Gen 1 and have harbored this monster virus for over 40 years. Guess I'm lucky to be alive - but I'm not ready to check out yet. I didn't even know what steatosis was until I saw my scan report. Now I do know - and I am petrified.
He is our doctor at UCSD, and is outstanding. More often than not, we see Dr. Martinez, his associate. He also works in Las Vegas with Dr. Gish. He has been unbelievably responsive, and is an incredible doctor. Best of luck to you.
