If it still tests high after laying off the wine, you might ask for an ultrasound to check for fatty liver -- especially given your high LDL and Tri's.
Are you overweight? Diabetic? Fatty liver can be treated, and I believe weight loss is the first step.
Most of us are Hep C patients and not doctors btw. I also had a isolated temporarily raised GGT and my NP suggested fatty liver, but it turned out to be nothing.
Because of its non-specificity, GGT has been dropped from the liver panels of many major hospitals.
Sounds like your doctor is proceeding in an appropriate fashion.
