Raised enzymes - not feeling well

I went to the doctor because I wasn't feeling well and my GP took a blood test because I have hep C (never a problem previously) and i started new bp meds last year. He called me at home to say they were concerned at my levels (GGT 180, LDH 280, AST 340 ALT 420) and wanted me to come back for further testing. Went back 6 days later for a test and got called at work by my GP who told me to go into the hospital because my blood tests were even worse (GGT 250, LDH 280, AST 530 ALT 700). At the hospital last Friday they did an ultrasound of my liver and kidneys and checked my heart out and all was fine. They also took some more bloods, they told me they were slightly worse  but I'm not sure by how much (only a day later!) and now I'm on some waiting list to see the liver specialist. I'm very relieved they didn't see a tumour or cirrhosis or anything - but has anybody else with Hep C had this issue and does it go away? I'm really not feeling that great...

Just letting you know that the specialists have triaged my strange readings as low priority and I should get an appointment in 3 or 4 months. It is a huge relief that I don't have to worry about things!

Thanks for your response, SurfsideGal. I started be meds a year ago and wonder if it is something to do with them. I have lived with hepC for over 35 years without an issue.

Hi Emma. I am sorry you are having these problems and are not feeling well. I don't have the answer to your questions but it sounds as if you are in good hands and the docs will figure it out. Hep C usually does not cause elevations that high. Are you doing anything else that may cause your liver to react? Are you on any new drugs? Have you taken tylenol or other nsaids, or antibiotics? Alcohol? I hope they get to the bottom of this for you, quickly. Let us know what happens.
