Red dots and spots

Red dots and spots

I'm on week 25 of 48 and I seemed to have slowly developed red dots and spots on my arms, shoulders, chest, abdomen and a little bit on my face. They get a little itchy but nothing to drive me mental. I've used creams, lotions etc.  It's getting pretty chilly and dry here in New England, but my sense is it's from the interferon or ribavirin.  Anyone else have these?  The cause?  The solution?  Thanks in advance.

If they get white scaly patches, it could be psoriasis, which is a side effect. If so, a dermatologist can do some topical steroids, etc. to help.

I have those little red dots too, they are raised off the skin surface a tad.  The doc said its a sign of aging, they are called hemangiomas, aka "A benign skin lesion consisting of dense, usually elevated masses of dilated blood vessels." Without seeing them I cant be sure but I have noticed them popping up a lot more often since I hit 50 and increasing every yr since.  I feel like "connect the dots" for sure. Nothing can be done for them as far as I know.  You can get um burned off but that causes a scar also.

The red dots/spots/skin rashes are common. Mine came early in tx then came back around week 30-something. My skin feels like a lizard or something: dry, scaly, etc. I used Gold Bond and it works pretty good.

Raheem,
I awoke one morning looking like a spotted gecko....my entire body was covered, couldn't see the sun through the clouds, only part saved was my face....lol..thank goodness for small miracles eh?
Anyways the Doc gave me a steroid topic called triamcinolone
used it sparingly and spots were gone after a week or so,not sure if the ointment helped or they went away by themselves...but they did disappear...thankfully,no fun looking like a gecko...:)

OHC, not the same thing, tho I know what you are talking about.  I got millions (well, hundreds anyway) of little red spots.  Doc said they were an allergic reaction to the riba.  They got worse as I was finishing up (9/26) and are just now clearing up.

I get red spots in areas that I've rubbed or scratched.  One day last week I woke up with red spots on my face. I had been extremely sick all night, something I ate.  I haven't been sick from tx. Over my eyelids looked like I had a black eye.  The doctor said it appeared to be trama due to being sick and because my platelet counts are so low.  You tend to bruise quite easily.  Within a few days it disappeared.  I'm in week 12, but had to stop two Pegasys injections so that my blood counts could recover.  Been on Neupogen and Procrit since week 4.  Had a fungal reaction in my hairline at the base of neck.  It itched soo Bad!  Doctor prescribed Lotrisone Lotion, a steroid.  Cleared it up within a few days.  Now only use as needed.   I'm a 1A-stage 3, Stage 4-chirrosis.  Taking it a day at a time.
