Relapsers... I'm wondering....

I'm wondering how many people have reached UND by week 12, stayed UND through tx and yet relapsed after finishing.

Probably a little less than half.  I believe the 45-48 percent rate of SVR is based on acheiving UND by 12 weeks.

I was clear at 7-9 wks.  Completed tx on 11/11 and relapsed as of 12/9.  Although I am not an expert, it seems that the degree of liver damage plays a role in svr. I also wonder about the role of estrogen based on the new studies from Oct/Nov.

Wow! I thought the 45-48% was based on the number of people who try tx. It only makes sense though because most people are told to quit if they aren't UND by week 12. I hope you are right about me having it nailed though.

that 45-50% is based on all treatment groups, non-responders, relaspser's, drop outs. it is not based only on people that got the go ahead after 12 weeks UND. There are many doctors out there that still have patients continue even if not UND. Mostly GI's or PCP's that don't have much experience with HCV.
Bottom line is chances of cure for genotype 1's is around 50%. The odds increase some for 4 week UND, low starting VL,  minimal fibrosis.
Add one of the new PI's coming out next year and odds jump to 75-80%

I hope you are somewhat right. Every little bit helps... even if it is only a couple percentage points.
