Relapsing

I just got my 6 months results, and I am sorry to say the Virus is back! I am genotype 1a and finished tx in April of 2011. I am really not that surprised, I was not UND at 12 weeks. I said I would not do this again, my present level is 177,347. My question is how long in between tx do you wait to start again. I do want to thank all who advised me the first round, here we go again!

So sorry that you got such disappointing news... I know how tough it must be, my husband also got the news this week that he was a relapser. You seem to have a positive attitude despite it all, and as spectda says, it's good that you're ready to get back in the saddle.  With the new line of meds, your chances are so much better going forward.

My understanding is that most docs have patients wait 6 months before re-treating, but guidelines are changing by leaps and bounds these days, and as others have pointed out, having low VL is definitely a better place to start.  In all practicality, if you're ready to take it on and the docs and insurance OK it, no reason not to forge ahead.  Wishing you much success next go round! ~eureka

So sorry to hear about your relapse!  I relapsed after my first tx.  I did the second tx 8 months after I finished the first.  I let my hgb, wbc, and platelets get to the normal zone before I started again.  But I felt it important that I hit it while my viral load was still relatively low.  AND I AM SVR, 8 months after finishing the second tx!!!  So keep your head up.  Sux to have to treat again, but this time you can do it in half the time, with the new drugs in the mix!!!!   Good luck!!

Sorry for the bad news. That stinks. With all the posts about people being UND with the new drugs then to hear this, just stinks. Don't worry you will have last laugh when you add the new drugs and kill that piece of S@#$ dragon!

Just curious why you continued TX if not UND at 12 weeks? Sounds like your doc was following old protocol. You might want to treat with a different doc next time you treat.

Best of luck

sorry about this for you, but boy what a trooper you are!  I would probably not be handling it as well.  That is good that you were just on soc because you wont have to wait any specific time to get started again.   Best wishes to you next time around.

I'm so sorry to hear that you've relapsed.  I know first hand how hard it is to find out.  At least you won't have to wait for the PIs. You have a good attitude.  That certainly helps.  I'm doing triple right now.

Boy I was really hoping that you were going to beat the odds my friend. I am very sorry to hear the news. At least the odds for success for relapsers with one of the new PIs is very high. I am really sorry that you will have to do it again, but I think you will beat it the next time. I am glad you are willing to try again.

So sorry to hear about your relapse. It's the one thing we all fear, but it sounds like you have time and there will be a cure for you when time is on your side. Best to you.

Sorry to hear about the relapse.  Starting triple with a low viral load is a plus stalion.  You'll more than likely go UND very early with triple. If you go with Vic you might just UND during the lead in.

Sorry to hear your news.  Like all have said, the new FDA approved drugs along with the trial drugs are making tx work better for us all.  Talk with your doctor and get their recommendation and above all, keep faith.

Thank you all for your responses, I did not have it too bad when I treared last year, so I guess I will start when ever I can get approval from my ins. You know what they say, that which doesnot kill you only makes us stronger, there is much worse out there!

Sorry to hear about your relapse .I don"t think there is any set time frame  on when to go again, however some  recovery might be in order ,as these P.I.'S can be a little nasty as far as sides, therefore it may be best to  try again when you are in the best shape you can be,
The new meds will give you that added kick to finally beat this thing.

Best to you...

Terrible news!  Hopefully with the New drugs in the mix for you you will respond with a win this time around.  I would say if you didn't have too rough of a go with tx last time then start right away.  Good luck and God Bless!!
