"I could and would gladly eat 2 bigmacks and 2 hudge fries, you could even through in the pie alamode! "
LOL, but you'd be better off just letting the HepC run it's course and not bother treating, cause you'd live longer I'm betting.
Ah, buttah, of course :o)!

I know; bring on the Crisco, huh :o)?

"After a time, the Ribavirin, like the IFN, achieves a more or less steady-state serum level."
For the IFN, that's true for Pegasys (interferon alfa-2a) anyhow. For PEG-Intron, I think the pharmacokinetics are substantially different. Just like to be clear.
"Both AUC and C-MAX increased by seventy percent when Rebetol Capsules were administered with a high fat meal: (841 kcal, 53.8 g fat, 31.6 g protein, and 57.4 g carbohydrate) in a single-dose pharmacokinetic study. "
LOL, that's like, eating a big mac and supersize order of fries twice a day. Perhaps not quite that much, but it's a substantial meal. If I ate like that twice a day, I'd gain 100 lbs over the course of treatment.
And something else just occurred to me. After a time, the Ribavirin, like the IFN, achieves a more or less steady-state serum level. Is there really any benefit to getting more? That is, I am assuming that the Ribavirin is manufactured, dispensed and prescribed in a manner that ACCOUNTS for the 45% absorbtion rate. In other words, the recommended dosage is probably based on assuming the patient IS NOT going to be eating like that twice a day.
Is it not so?
For what it’s worth….

I really had a hard time eating on treatment especially in the morning so when I really couldn't I'd at least have a yogurt shake or some peanut butter crackers. You don't have to go nuts or anything. Plus ice cream isn't a bad thing to have to suffer through ;)
I don't think it really matters. The idea is to get a little fat in there, so either take them with a meal, or eat a "fat snack" before hand.
Example:
Avocado, peanut butter, trail mix bar, ice cream.
I'm sure you can find dozens of options. Personally, I take my first dose after breakfast, at which I always eat either some sausage, ham steak, or bacon. For the evening dose, I usually just have an ice cream bar and a trail mix bar, then down the meds. Once in a while I'll fix a peanut butter sandwich.
Tried avocado, but it was quite unappetizing to me.
