Ribavarin and antibiotics

Does anyone know if its ok to take antibiotics with riba?  I'm not sure if I should take a dose of each together or should I wait and take the antibiotic (Avelox 400mg) separately.  I'd rather take them together because each should be taken with food and I don't have much appetite so when I do manage to eat I'd like to get all the drugs down at once.  Any input would be helpful.

I don't believe it is an issue. I was taking Cipro (750mg 1xweek) while on tx and never noticed any problems. I took the Cipro on Fridays mornings with my riba . It was the same day I had my interferon injection. Made it easy to keep track of. I was being treated at the UCSF Liver Clinic. It is now their standard protocol to put all patients with cirrhosis and portal hypertension on propalytic antibiotics while on treatment to prevent infection, which can be very dangerous for cirrhotis.
Remember the tx meds and antibiotic build up in your blood over a long time period. So they are both going to be active concurrently.

Thanks, its so much easier to take it all at once.  Lately the brain fog has made me pretty flaky about remembering meds so anything that simplifies that deal is helpful.  

I've been touring nursing homes for the last 2 months, looking for a proper placement for my elderly mother.  Not too clever of me with a severely compromised immune system, but what can you do.  Somewhere along the way I picked up pnuemonia (pneumonia) - WOW that's painful!  Anyhow, at the ER yesterday they gave me Avelo and dilaudid so my pillbox is now runneth over.  So anything that helps me keep track of the meds is a godsend.
