Ribovarin 500mg

After Interferon and Ribovarin treatment can you still take the 500 mg Ribovarin

If you start taking the shot the same day as the riba - you need to finish the last week of the riba in order for it to be 48 weeks.

I hope you weren't on 500 of riba all along - that's a really really low dose for anybody and certainly is no where near weight based that is recommended.

Many doctors recommend taking the ribavirin for a week following your last injection. After that you are supposed to stop taking the ribavirin.

Has your doctor told you to take ribavirin beyond that point? If so, maybe you can tell us why because this is not standard practice.

Emilio -- riba has a very long half life so there is no reason to "taper" it as some do with the Peg. Peg, in fact, also has a decent half life so in fact there is no reason to taper the peg either per standard practice and a question about same to Dr. Dieterich in our professional forum. That said, HR has made an interesting case to taper the Peg but have not seen his case collaborated by other medical sources. HR has never suggested tapering ribavirin as far as I can remember.

My understanding that if you are not taking both drugs Ribavirin is non effective.
