Running a Fever? Flu treatment? Leg aches?

Running a Fever? Flu treatment? Leg aches?

Hi all,

It's great to read all of the positive reports that have been happening lately.

To all of the newbies... Hang in there. It's a long road to recovery but you are not alone.

My husband is going on week 17 this Friday. He's on Pegasy/CoPegus tx.
The past two weeks he has seen symptoms that he has previously avoided up until now.
I have read that sometimes the latter end is worse than the beginning.

Has anyone experienced running a Fever? It's not a dangerous high fever but a fever nonetheless.
Also, he thinks he may be getting the Flu. Or at least he feels like he is.

For the past two nights he's had to get up out of bed at 3am and go in the living room to lay down. His legs are so sore he says.
Achy sore.

Anyone have this experience? If so, what did you do about it? Is it something he should be more concerned over or just ride it out?

Thank you all!

FlyHigh, and trying to be the supportive wife.

Only wish that week 17 had been near the end!  I'm on week 45 and counting down.  As for fever, as long as it doesn't go above 100 or so, it is normal as is the leg pain.  That being said, any time there are new side effects that worry you, call the doctor or the help line for the brand of peg you are on.  There are nurses on staff to answer questions almost 24-7.  The number for Hoffman-Laroache is 1-877-734-2797.  The # for Scherring-Plough is 1-888-437-2608.

From what I have gathered, these are of the most common side effects. I have experienced them at random each week since the third week. It really feels like the flu, with the aches, chills and, even fairly severe head aches with nausea. I, like so many of us Hep-C patients, have had many other not so common sides as well. Every day is unpredictable, but you certainly can't preclude actually catching a flu virus at this time. It might be well advised to contact your doctor just to let them know what is going on. They can best advise something to take for discomfort, also.
Let me please take this chance to also wish DiveRight the best of luck with his procedure today.
  Regards, Tosser

My latest sides are a quivering of my arms, legs and whole body.  I'll be sitting or lying down and all of a sudden one arm will jump. Then, it's a leg.  Sometimes it's a whole body quiver.  Last night, I was up at 3 am as well.  I can't get my temperature regulated. I'm either having chills, or I'm getting night sweats.  On Sun., I was throwing up and I've been queasy feeling all week.  By the way, these quivers ARE NOT SEIZURES, I just want to clarify that.  As far as the fever goes, yes, I get them often.  This morning it was 100.4.     Susan400

The sides seem to change from week to week. Sometimes it is fever or chills to rashes to very painful body aches. The worst for me seems to be the aches in the bones, not muscles or joints but the bones themself. It is like I can feel the bone marrow. Just keep an eye on the fever and make sure it doesn't get to high. If the acheiness gets to bad ask your doctor for something. If you go to a regular doctor make sure they know that he is being treated for Hep C Good Luck and hang in there.

one of the best descriptions I heard on this site was "my bones hurt". Thats best way I've heard to describe the aches/pains(its the bone marrow I belive)

I just had my weekly shot of Pegasys (no.5) & something happened that I've been dreading that would happen ... I had the needle in my leg all was ok then I was pushing in the drug into my leg when a slight pool appeared around the site... What happened you say, I believe that the drug was seapping out between the push on needle & the base of the syringe... I'm freaking not knowing how much was spilt, I would say at least a quater to a half was spilt .... considering there is only o.5 of a mill anyway it must've been 0.25 spillage ....Can someone or anyone please help I dont know what to do....

The symptoms you descibed are normal tx sides. They vary from week to week and day to day. you can even go long stretches with no sides then start getting them. if his temp remains above 100.5 for more than a day he should call his doc to check things out.

Steve, unfortunately there's no way to know how much was lost. It may have looked like a lot but the way you described it pooling around the base of the needle it couldn't have been very much. Seems like it would have flowed and dripped pretty good if it was more than a couple drops. Do you take a full pegasys dose of 180mcg/1ml? In my opinion, there's no reason to take a second shot, but you may want to call your doc for direction. And switch to a name-brand syringe.

Hi there I've just put a message on my dr's machine about my spilt peg shot, no doubt he will get back to me as soon as he's free.... Here is something I just thought about & I'd like your thoughts Please!!! my shot may have been 75% spilt & wasted because of the leak between syringe & needle, anyway my thoughts are this >>>> Just say I got 25% of my 180mcg/0.5 ml (Peginterferon alfa-2a) & then when the dr calls back & hopefully tells me to have another one of my supply straight away so that is 180mcg + 45mcg would this have any negative problems.... What I'm getting at here is there is no way to know if I had even 1mcg or 50mcg of my dose, all I can say is the puddle on my leg was substantial & would've easily been 1/2 a ml, which is the entire lot maybe .... sorry if I'm going on a bit but this is really a nerve racking experience, I follow the Tx to the letter & this is a bit of a hiccup... any thoughts to reassure me please, I appreciate your help, I love the people on this site we all back each other up with the same goal ....
"Kill The Dragon"  Thanks & keep focused all of you....

I have 1-extra box (4-shots) of pegasys that the drugstore gave me by mistake. If you didn't live clear across the world I would run some over to you. Stay focused man! It will be ok.

Even if you did lose half the meds it really shouldn't have that much of an effect on your treatment. When everything happened on 9/11 my meds where delayed  for over a week and a  half. I was terrified. My doctor said to just continue with the pills and to take the next shot when it came in. But to be on the safe side I would still make call to the professional. Did you call the pegasys hot line? Good Luck and don't worry yourself sick. Kim

Steve,
I think I would talk to your doc asap and resolve the issue under his direction rather then carry this worry around with you. You probably have enough to worry about as it is.

I started running a bit of a fever after smoking some weed for the first time in long time, and it has been known by me to this to me before, but I still went to work and it even got worse, (it has to get worse before it can get better), but then last night I took 2 motrin ibuprophens had a banana and an ice cold glass of water which I rubbed all along my forehead and my entire whole head after a while, I woke up refined ( I also had sex) which helped probably the most of all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
