SVR 6 months post TX

Hi everyone
Haven't post for a while trying to get this out of my mind.
But today I received excellent news: SVR six months post TXnegative 40 and a bit ow...
Treated 6 months pegasys 180 mikes 800 copegus..
Had a ****** time after week 8 but I finished...So I guess the combo works...
The only thing I got a regret: i got a cataract in my right eye that I'm linking directly to tx, because when I started I had 20/20 vision... My doc says is not related, but I'm not gonna argue about it..

Love to you all
Keep the faith

Hopooray and a big Congrats to you!

You were in the middle of your TX when I started logging on and now you're SVR and I'm almost 3/4th's through TX.

Maybe now you can actually GO scuba-diving sometime soon.

Great news.

Join the club!!!!  Congratulations!!!  Enjoy the great feeling of success after hard work.

By the way, cataracts are a known, and reported possible consequence of interferon tx.  I had a huge increase in cataract development during and right after tx.  Not enough to need surgery yet, but a major change.  I have my eyes thoroughly checked every six months by a very good optometrist, with advanced equipment, and a laser center as a partner to his business.  I also see the opthomologist yearly.  Both doctors pointed out my major increase in cataract formation right after my last tx.  I would research the literature to find documentation of the interferon effect.  Longer tx'es seem to have more impact.  Just part of the price we sometimes pay to get cured.

Good luck to you!!!

Thank guys
I really feel relieved, and now I think I have a clean slate to start over. I love you all an I really want to thank all of yous cause I kinda didn't know  anything about tx (my doc wasn't a huge source of info eitehr if you know what I mean)..This forum is an hepatology class in itself and I guess I'm becoming a new member of the Alumni ;-)

DD
My opthomologist says that I can get an operation now if I want (he didn't say anything about the IFN+cataract relationship) but I guess i'm too you young 45 to have one naturally. Both of my parents had them but in their late 70's...
I guess I'll get an operation done in 6 months or so. I was told that the cataract has to get "ripe" before removal if not It can grow again

WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU!  I CAN'T STAND IT I WANT TO JUMP FOR JOY OVER HERE AT WORK!

My mom just had her cataract removed and was seeing perfectly really immediately. So don't worry about that too much just enjoy the fact that you wiped out a potentially deadly disease...man it was HARD but Extenders are TOUGH and it WORKS.   :)

YAY YAY!  I can't stand it!  I'm so happy for you!

I can't understand why anyone would want to stop early not when we can WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  You had it rough baby but you did it.  I am SO PROUD OF YOU AND YOUR STREGTH.

Great news, I am glad for you. I remember what a tough time you had during TX.
My six months will be coming up in January. I was still UND at 6 weeks post, so I have my hopes up.
The cataract can be easily taken care of.

I guess is weird to say this, but I'm gonna miss you guys..Now that I SVRd I won't be able to ask anything relevant or post or interact with the greatest bunch of americans I've ever met..Someone at the the spanish forum told me I had it easy cause I was a geno 2 :-( so I guess I was not aware that many people relapse...So success stories sometimes are not well taken...Cosas de la vida
I guess now have to go back to the grind...I was wondering if anyone knows how long does it take the liver to regenerate if at all (from F3) never got Bx..
Anyway, you've showed me that AlvinToffler was right when he wrote his last book...You are the real example of proactive prosumers changing conventional wisdom and second wave medicine.. You are the third wave that develops knowledge by sharing on the web to people like me that don't have all the access.. I have to say that I got treated better by my spanish docs from all the info I got here....
When I read some of your posts I don't know if it is HR, Jim, DD, Flguy speaking etc...You guys know so much...You push the envelope everyday..Muchas gracias
IMHO I think all of yous have gotten a PhD in hepatology, and many doctors should follow HR's example of interacting with patients via MH

hope to see yous around someday

I'll miss you - have missed you for a while, since you haven't posted much lately.  That is so wonderful, it's over.

Hope to see you around someplace beautiful in Spain some day, or something like that - not on another medhelp forum, I hope.  Let me lift a nice glass of rioja to your health.

So great to have you join the SVR group!  I just learned last week myself.  Best of luck! And you may very well have some help to others from your experiences, so keep watching the board.  Judy

Fantastic news! Glad you stopped at 24, if I remember correctly you were ready to go on and on and on :) As far as what your doc said about the cataracts -- of course they're correct -- tx never does any damage :)

Be well,

-- Jim

Outstanding! Its a surreal feeling when you finally get the news that its actually an SVR, right? All that fear, uncertainty and doubt washes away in a heartbeat. As you said, its a real fresh start, and no looking over your shoulder. Welcome to the club. The price of membership sux, but its worth it to get in the door :-)

great news dude, I remmber you from a while back...glad you are well
you could try vitamin A and D on the catarac...that what the med teams northwest does,  they ship to peru and places to does folks 4 times a year...even that little amount prevents the cataracts.
they will disolve given the right fatty acids.. or else surgery works, but doesn't always leave perfect sight.

Thanks again
Love you very much..
MB: so you think if I take vitamin A and D I could dissolve the cataracts?? that would be great!!!. But I thought vitamin A was bad for a fibrotic liver? am I wrong?
I only take vitamin C

You like Rioja? I like Ribera del Duero red better of 2001. Is an excellent cosecha, and if you ever get the chance try it. Riberas are so much better than Riojas in the red category. I guees french wine in the US is over rated. You guys should start trying the spanish "caldos". They make italian & french wine look like iced tea ;-)
But no more than 40 gr a day ;-)

Brindo por la RVP para tod@s (toast to the SVR for all) :-)

yes too much a and d either one is bad, but some is neccessary for life.
as I said it is so neccessary they have missions just to dose children 4 times a year to prevent blindness.
the best thing would be to get your blood levels checked for this vitamin and see if you are low, your GP can do this, and then if low  proceed.

also too much C can make you hold onto iron, not good...all things in moderation and according to need
