ALT and AST are the tests that they do when they suspect heart attack, because they also indicate muscle damage (one more than other, but can't remember which is which). Might well be related to heavy exrecise. I don't know about if alcohol use could spike ALT/AST unless maybe you had cirrhosis and have not yet removed enough fibrosis to be at a fuller liver function yet. Keep an eye on it. You know it ain't hepatitis! Congratulations
Very, very cool stuff there…. And time for a song!
Lyrics by EH Harburg
"Ding-d0ng the witch is dead!
Which old witch? The wicked witch
Ding-d0ng the wicked witch is dead!
Wake up you sleepyhead
Rub your eyes, get out of bed
Wake up the wicked witch is dead
She's gone where the goblins go
Below - below - below
Yo-ho, let's open up and sing and ring the bells out
Ding D0ng the merry-oh, sing it high, sing it low
Let them know the Wicked Witch is dead!"
A hearty congratulations for a job well done; and thanks for all the inforamtion you've shared in here--
More good news from the South Florida side of the hcv familiy. As long as your liver does not resemble a chunk of pumice I don't think the occassional drink is out of order.
Big congratulations I copy what Bil said " thanks for all the inforamtion you've shared in here-- "
I don´t know about why the alt gone up, first I thought it could be the exercise don´t have any facst to back that up though.
Alcohol makes the values go up shortly afterwards, but as flguy said occassionally a drink whats wrong with that.
If you can take a glas of wine or two without getting unpleasant you don´t have a alcohol problem in my opinion.
Congratulations, Apache! I am so late to your party but am thrilled for you.
And good stuff, getting that <5 test. I relied on you quite a bit for sensitive test advice.
I did my ferritin a few weeks after tx and it was normal, after spiking to 1248 on meds. Nice - hope your lipids start looking better soon.
So you celebrated Father's Day with a swig or two. Sounds good. My younger son's getting married at the cottage this weekend and the bridal party is up there now. The best man is a manager for a beer company, so the stuff is flowing. I'm here, safe in town, far from temptation.
Fantastic news Apache. I'm so very pleased you got the BIG OK :-)...
My doc said that 'realistically I have no problem with you having a glass of wine a month' (I have early cirrhosis), which means I doubt I'll even bother, but it's nice to know it's not going to make a huge difference if I have one at Xmas.

Appreciate all the well wishes.
This forum, all of you, helped make tx easier, more interesting, and probably more effective.

I think that a lot of things can raise ALT.
Just an example, when I was first dxed with hep c, I went 100% organic and my ALT dropped from 130's to 50's in a very short amount of time.

Congratulations! So happy to hear the good news:))
Bill,
I love the witch is dead!!
I wouldn't worry much about the enzymes...could be a whole host of reasons for it as long as it says SVR on the ticket you've got it! :)
