lol,,'not going back there.' Well I did,, i'm a woman, a menopausal woman at that,,which gives me license to change my mind 'by the minute, if not the second.' lol
I posted down there, but I also left word that I will be going over into the other forum,,,
see ya there
Congrats Maui and great post! I've seen a friend (who actually may have given this to me back in the 80s) have a transplant, then start partying again, then have his leg cut off from diabetes and died due to liver cancer.
People who think this is a mild easy not big deal disease just DONT know what they are talking about.
A woman I know right now is dying of liver cancer...she has two gorgeous girls and a great husband.
Our livers are SO important it's unbelievable. That's why it really greatly upsets me when anyone tries to pretend that it's ok to drink with liver damage. Yeah it's ok...if you don't want to be here any longer. WHY is it worth the CHANCE! UGH.
Maui I am so happy that you did so well. No matter WHAT you feel like - make sure you get constant CBCs to keep monitoring your hemoglobin PLEASE. I had no flu sides when I started treatment but the anemia got me...and it was dangerous. I don't want it to sneak up on you!
Watching someone I worked with go through end stage was what convinced me to treat. I decided cirhosis scared me more than IFN.
Congrats on beginning tx! I hope that things go great for you. Not far behind you in beginning tx myself. I am sorry to hear that you lost your friend.
Faith keeps looking up,
Rick
Congrats for getting thru your first shot! I'm glad it was a piece of cake for you. Here's your oar & welcome to the boat. :)
Also, sorry of the loss of your friend, but glad it was a wake up call for you.
Too bad it takes something drastic to make us see it sometimes.
This'll be week #20/48 for me. Almost half-way there!
Day #7 since I quit smoking too!!
Best of luck to you during your tx, maui.

Lady E, I'm cheering you on in your desire to become tobacco-free! I quit 25 years ago... (I also chewed tobacco... )
This morning I go to town to do my blood work. My WBC's have always been low, so I definitely want to keep an eye on them.
Life is good!
Excellent!! so, so happy for you! The worse part for me was the waiting to get the start. That was such a downer for me when experiencing all the delays, but I think it helped in the long run, as I was so anxious to start, which seemed to lessen the fear. I'm just taking one day at a time and trying to stay positive about it. I keep NYgirls motto in my mind at all times,"its doable," and ya know what,,,if it wound up difficult, i jump off the tx train and wait for something better, but i only look at today and today only,,,,,and today is fine.
Wish you the very best and a big svr sent your way!
I posted something on your "popular" post (wow 70+ comments you hit the jackpot)but then I read how you are not going back to that post. Thought I'd point it out to you.

I have to agree with ya. My best friend's father in law passed away due to ESLD, ascitis and encephalopaty the last days of his life (he even hit his wife several times..He didn't recognize her). I think my friend didn't realize all these was due to chronic hep (he just told me he was a drinker and used too many pills)... I didn't wanna say anything, cause it was too late anyway) but I started TX soon afterwards. It was my wakeup call.
And everytime I feel like quitting TX I remember this man.
