Hi, and please let Peter know I said a very special prayer for him. I do remember him now, that you mentioned his name. Sometimes I for get ppl when I haven't seen their name in a long time. Let him know I will be praying for him. And yes he is very lucky to have someone like you, who has and will continue to be there for him in times of need. (he would probably remember me as AlmostDone2). But I have always signed my name to the bottom of my post....even back then. I hope he will cintinue to improve and I hope his doctor will except the knowledge that God has given to him to treat Peter and get him back on his way to a healthier life. Love and prayers, Cindee
I am really curious as to what your bx said. The final diagnosis. Am I wrong that stage 3 is severe, and stage 2 is moderate? I am asking as I want to be sure of my present condition, as it will help ease my decision to tx again. My final dx said moderate. but was told I am grade 2, stage 3.This was by a PA though, not a Dr.
I'm not sure if I remember this guy, but pls relay to him my WARMEST REGARDS & I wish him well.
I hope he recovers ASAP & returns to this forum to help others.
the KID....
Please send him my best and let him know we are all thinking about him and hoping the doctors will find a way for him to continue treatment.. Please keep us upated...
Jodi
I don't know him, but please send him my best regards...
Thanks for the link, you seem to be the information man. I was under the impression that progression took longer than 30 months. I am sure that the benefits I have going for me are my age, health, and lifestyle and diet. I also take many supplements now to attempt to suppress progression. My liver functions are:
alt- 82
ast-36
total bilirubin-0.3
This was as a my last blood test in march, when I was still drinking. Hope to see normal alt's in next labs.
I do remember him. Please give him my warmest regards and let him know I hope things get better for him. SOunds like he is going through quite a struggle. (It's nice of you to do this. ) LL
I do remember you. You were an inspiration to those here that you spoke to. Your kind words and calm compassion were evident to all.
I am sad that you are having a rough road to travel right now.
Now is your time to let yourself heal and take the care that is offered you by the best professionals you can find.
As you wait for this life trial to end just remember that What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters
compared to what lies within us.
You are a child of God and he has taken you this far for a reason. Trust that he has a plan for you. Stay calm and let him help you.
After you are healed I expect to see you back here and elsewhere serving the needs of others who will always need people like you.
Take good care..........
Peter,
I remember you, too. I wish you the best in getting appropriate care and treatment; and then I wish you SVR and peace.

I posted below, but maxed out.Does anybody know exactly the definition of stage 3 fibrosis? My final diagnosis, was moderate fibrosis, then in a note below, there was a statement that foci were found that are suspicious for bridging. When I do search for staging scales, stage 3 states severe fibrosis, with bridging. Am I correct on this?
I know that progression is non-linear, but does it not take alcohol to accelerate? I saw studies that followed hcv patients, for up to 11 years, and there was only progression in 23% of stage 2 and 3, and factors were with drinking and lifestyle. Please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks
I am not sure if I remmember him. With all the fog in my head, it can be hard to remmember yesterday.
<b>He is suffering considerably. Mentaly and physicly more so then many of use could even imagine. Please print this post, let he no that for one, have said a prayer for his recovery and immediate improvement in his mental comfort!!!!!</B>
Remmember the power of pray can do miracles.

Here's an <a href="http://www.hepcassoc.org/news/article83.html">study/a> related to progression.
(from the article):
"<i>Mild hepatitis C infection will rapidly worsen in one in three of those affected, suggests new research published in the medical journal Gut. This is particularly likely in those who are older when first infected, and those who already have a degree of inflammation and fibrosis in their liver at diagnosis .....
..... The factors influencing progression of the disease were older age at infection, rather than the length of infection, and degree of inflammation and scarring at the first biopsy.
Unlike the results of previous research, gender, alcohol consumption, virus type and other indicators of poor liver function did not seem to have any effect on the rate of progression, although the authors point out that it is important to reduce alcohol consumption once infected.
The authors conclude that even mild HCV is a progressive disease, and those patients affected are likely to require a considerable degree of health care as they age over the next 20 years.</i>"

Thank you! It cleared up my question. I too was told early stage 3, but my diagnosis was as follows:
Final dx:
Moderate chronic hepatitis with fibrosis
Note: moderate chronic inflamation in the portal tracts consisting predominatly of lymphocytes and rare plasma cells.Moderate chronic inflamation is also present within the lobules. Stain is negative for stainable iron. Stain also shows moderate portal fibrosis with foci suspicious for bridging.
From what my diagnosis is, I am really a stage 2. I was correct in my assumption, and PA gave me worst case senerio. I am curious also as to whether you suffered any symptons, as I have not. I am sorry to pester you, but where better to get info, than someone about the same dx as me.I have never had any pain in abdomen. My mother has had hcv longer than me, and is afraid of bx, but ultrsound came back with possible lesion. She said that liver looked like honeycomb on ultrasound. Her functions are fine, but she is 52, VL 2,380,000, geno 1a. It is safe to assume that she is same or worse than me, in staging. I fear worse, as she was a heavy drinker and child of the 60's.
I remember BritPete well. I remember that rock music was an important source of comfort to him. He particularly liked 'Don't Give Up' by Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush (Paula Cole on the live cut). That would be my message to him- don't give up. I remember one of the lines sung by Kate Bush was 'you have friends.' Peter has friends here. I'm praying for him, Dave
You have been missed and I pray that you will get better and stronger! Please let us know how you are doing when you feel up to it! God Bless!
Please tell him that I always enjoyed his humor and wish him a complete recovery. I hated to see him leave.
