'Scalloped liver with heterogenous consistency'

by Sherlyn, Apr 17, 2000 12:00AM
"May be cirrhosis"
The above, described the results of a full-torso CT scan to examine for heart-related concerns. The only other indication of trouble was 6 mos. of elevated SGOT (34-48),alk.phos(142-143)SGPT(47-58, cholesterol 214-236),LDL (138-158), HDL(56-53.

In the 70's I drank a fifth of bourbon per weekend. Seemed to "outgrow" it.  The only other consistencies were 30 years on Dilantin for and the last 5 years on Relafen for osteoarthritis. I presently take 2.5mg of dexedrine each morning for what is now diagnosed as attention deficit disorder.

My internist seems unconcerned about the above.  Should I seek out a hepatologist on my own?  What's next for me?

What foods should I avoid?  Coffee? Sodas? I've been unable to locate diet recommendations for compromised livers.  I'm worried even if my Dr. seems unconcerned.  Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
