Searching for Indiana entry on protease nm283 and vx950

by shads, Oct 01, 2005 12:00AM
Today was my first visit to the site . I saw an entry from someone who was being treated by /involved in a clinical trial with Dr. Paul Kwo at the Indiana University Medical Center. I have searched the site again and could not locate the conversation and hence the information. I too have meet with Dr. Kwo and learned about the trial using peg-intron and rebetrol, the IDEAL study and a future protease study.. I am curious about the vx x 950 and/or nm283--I use there terms tenatively as today is the first time I have seen them. I assume they are forms of protease. I would like to hear the perspective/experience  of a HCV patient. I have a low vira-load( btwn 250,000- 800,00 and no scarring yet.

I have been to various sites and feel even more intrigued by these alternatives. If the previous Indiana writer is out there, i would love to hear from you; otherwise, any comments would be appreciated. I have read the stuff from the EASL conference.

One last question: Has anyone tried transfer-factor?

Hello and welcome, im also a patient of Doctor Kwo at IU. If you go down the list of questions to the article titled "End game for protease inhibitors" dated 9-26-2005 and go through the list you will find alot of info on that subject. Good luck to you....John

Hi Shads.  I'm the guy you were asking about.

Do go back and read the thread, "End Game for Protease Inhibitors".  The was a lot of good information exchanged.

Dr.Kwo @ IU Med. Center is involved in many clinical trials.  To my knowledge he has not participated yet in a PI clinical trial.  I asked about VX-950 and NM283 and was told to wait for the Schering PI.....why?  From what I can read Schering is just coming out of the gate and is 2 years behind Vertex and Idenix.  Paul Kwo is a really good doc....does he know something we don't know or is Schering forcing its way into the PI market?

I just hope that one of these works, soon.

miked.
