Sex after treatment and remission.

Hi, I have HCV Geno Type 2 and was treated 51/2  years ago. I have been in remission for 5. I was told that there is a 5% chance of contracting the virus through unprotected sex, which is very low percentage. Well, being celebate for some time, and when I am in a monogamous relationship and being in remission what are the chances of me passing the virus on to him?

if you have been SVR for 5 years you are done with the disease there is no chance of infecting anyone because you don't have it any longer.

You are not in remission,you are cured.

There is no remission with hepc.  Either you are cured and no active virus is present or your not.

svr is classed as 99 % , so you should be fine

I did have genotype 2 Hepatitis C  Ten years ago and since I had the treatment with rivabirin and interferon 10 years ago; always in my blood test it shows that I do have the antibodies for Hepatitis C, but there not virus at all, and my doctor said "Congratulation you have no virus" I have done the test several times  during  the last 10 years with same results.

You will carry the HCV Antibodies for the rest of your life. Don’t worry about it; you are fine (assuming that you haven’t done anything to get re-infected). Just because you have the antibodies does not mean you are immune to HCV. It just means you once had it.
