Less than one Percent of chance of getting it and then only if there is blood to blood contact. So dont worry.

Don't have unprotected sex ever again in your life OR get a hepc test every time you do.
Even if your chances of not having it are very good - it's still possible after all. Oh yes even though your chances of not getting it are and remain very good.
I mean without any other risk factors involved?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
yes they have but the percentage is very low.
(Articles I've read ranges from 1-2% to 10-20%)
I do believe (IMO) that EVERYONE has other risk factors.
(Dentist, surgery, manicures, pedicures, us baby boomers getting our vaccines when we were younger, and others) I also believe that the dentist office (especially for us baby boomers) were a route of transmission. As time goes on we will see more and more possible routes of transmission.
What most people don't understand is that at times
semen has blood in it (usually benign) but also,
women can get small tears in the vagina which bleed a bit.
Not enough blood that we would even notice.
This happens because of dryness (menopause), not leaving a tampon
in long enough during menses, (Or using the wrong absorbency tampon)
Rough sex or all day sessions can also cause dryness and irritation.
Right now they say it is caused sexually through either rough sex
and multiple partners. If one person get's it through sex (rough, rape, or multiple partners) then it is an STD.
There (in time) will be more studies done on contracting HCV this way and
hopefully everyone will be truthful when asked about high risk behavior when being
dx'd with HCV. A lot has to do with your genes/immune system and how taxed it is.
We fight viruses and bacteria daily.
The stigma of HCV is from IVDU not STD's.
All in all, wear a condom to be safe especially when with a new partner.
Your chances of contracting it this way are very low but not 0%.
I also want to say that I've been married 25 years and my husband always tests negative.
We use no protection, never have. My 2 children (In their 20's) also test and they are negative as well. They both test for all STD's including HBV,HCV.
Now I will get negative feeback from my comments but I stand by what I've just said 100%....
enigma
Ditzy, did those 3 test negative for HVC prior to having sex with you?
i was with a guy for years who had geno type 1a and i have 3a and we never gave each other our geno type, back then we didnt know we had different geno type we just thought hep c was hep c.we were never careful cos we thought we didnt have to be.
as for my other sexual partners from past from what i know iv never given it to any1 via sex but it was safe sex most of the time.
my sister has had a few guys with hep c in her life, she is negative and she is still negative and she didnt have protected sex with them, she even had 2 kids to them and she and kids are fine.
i think u should u condoms if your worried about gettin it.
Tomorrow will be 6 weeks I have been off TX. I am cleared. Hubby was tested, he is still negative. I dont think sex is a very possible way of getting HCV. Unless both parties are bleeding.
Good luck..
