Shared Razor

I accidentally used someone else's razor but didn't see any cuts on me afterwards. What are the chances I could contact HCV from this? I am crippled from anxiety especially given the fact her boyfriend has injected drugs. I never checked the razor beforehand so who knows what was on it. She says she's healthy but I can barely function from this anxiety! Please advise. ..

Thank you for the helpful answers! She even assured me that it was a new blade. However, since having my baby I've had a ton of post partum anxiety that I'm about to see a counselor for. I guess I was mainly wondering too how much of a risk it actually was!

Chances are nil that you contracted HCV. Hep C is actually rather difficult to get these days now that blood is screened. You would need blood to blood contact and that didn't happen in your case

HCV is spread blood to blood, so while it is technically possible to spread with a razor, the odds are very very very slim. If you had no bleeding cuts after you used the razor, then you did not get infected, it has to enter the blood stream directly. My daughter sometimes borrowed my razor before I knew I had it, and she never got it. My husband of 30 years did not get it from me. I did not know until 2 years ago that I had it, probably got it in the 70s. If you are really worried about it, get yourself tested. It is never a good idea to share personal items for so many reasons other than HCV. Good luck surfgirl. Let's us know what your test result is!
