Sharp Pains

Sometimes I get sharp pains in the right upper section under my ribs. The pain stops me in my tracks and can feel like being stabbed.  I'm scheduled for a sonogram, but just wondering if anyone has had this too.

How long ago were you tested and have you had a bx?

I think most people with hep c get these pains..The pains will be reduced through diet...I think if you dont eat sugar and dont eat high carb diet...you would reduce allot of the symtoms (symptoms)...It puts less insult on the liver...Only my 2 cents...take care

I get those.  I have noticed that if I directly affect my blood it gets worse.  I quit smoking when I heard the news.  Then 1 month ago I started up again.  I am on a daily struggle to NOT smoke.  I break down though and have about 1-4 a day now though.  As soon as I poison my blood with the carnigens I get all kinds of uncomfortable feelings in the area.  Also, that are directly in my midsection is very hard, I refer to it as my lump.  It is my primary concern.  I can't wait until next Wednesday when my doctor can at least finaly examine it on the outside.

Do the pains happen often?   I have only experienced them once for a little while at night.  I could not imagine walking and having them.  Very sharp and not fun at all.

BB just made me aware of your thread. My pain is not nearly as severe and occurs mostly on the left side so I think I can safely rule out pain from the tissues surrounding the liver. But perhaps some of the suggestions people are giving me -- and vice versa -- might help. My thread is above and titled "Chest Pains?" Hope you feel better.

I was tested 3 years ago and had the bx at the same time.  I had to wait 6 months to start treatment cause my iron was way to high due to blood transfusions.  I did 48 weeks and I'm doing it again after almost a year wait.  I'm genotype 1, stage 1, My pains happen at least once a week and mostly while I'm doing stuff. At work, walking, cleaning - no consideration for timing!!  I haven't had them at night. I should probably write it down so I can track it.  I don't smoke and try to eat healthy - mostly organic when I can.  My doc knows about it and since my last sono was 3 years ago, I have another one scheduled for May 15th.  Just so we know if anything new is happening.  Thanks for responding - be well!!
