this is one of the means of getting hepatitis. HCV is a blood to blood virus so both would have to have bloody noses. this is more common then first thought. But it makes sense if you think about it, snorting drugs irritate the membranes inside the nose and they tend to bleed. so sharing a straw, bill, etc can indeed pass hepatitis from one to the other. it is not "guranteed" and i would relax until tested.

were you ever an IV drug user ? if so, you our at risk for both.i would get checked and get it off your mind.get treatment and perhaps even rid the virus.i have a 90% chance of cure as being genotype 2.talk to your dr,tell him the truth, get tested.ill be here for you...................Kathy

really dont know, and dr will tell you same.you must gettested to know for sure.where there are body fluids, there is some risk, but i wouldnt get too upset about HIV with snorting, but get checked.you never know.dont waste precious time.good luck...........let me know

The reason snorting drugs are so effective is because the inside of the nose is lined with capillaries that are really close to the surface.  These capillaries are very easy to break open (sticking a straw or a dollar up your nose can do it). GET TESTED.

The HIV virus hates oxygen, it dies really fast when exposed to air, HCV is not like that it sticks around for quite a long time, so your probably at a much higher risk of getting HCV this way, but I'm sure your doc will test you for both...

my personal opinion is that a sniffing device is a small majority of transmitted cases.
there isnt much scientific info to say one way or another.

I shot up one time in my life and contracted hep c.  Kinda like teenage pregnancy! Once is enough.    I was one of the unlucky ones.  Tried something once and didn't like it and now I am fighting a fatal disease.  When I talk to young people about the dangers of their behavior I hope and pray that it reaches some of them.  I liked to party as much as the rest of my friends but there are consequences.

would both of us needed to have bloody noses for hep c to transmit or just one??
