HEPATITIS C COMMUNITY
Some good news for this Saturday!

Some good news for this Saturday!

My google alert sends me stuff about Hep C every day in my email and this is an article I found hopeful.  Hope it helps all of you too.  We are witnessing the beginning of the arc of public education, much like HIV in the 80's, and I don't know about anyone else, but it makes me feel a little less alone to read about people like this being brave.  Enjoy.

P.S.  Can anyone tell me how to make this link live here in the forum?

Really good article.  Thanks for posting it. Almost wish I could email it to a couple people who just have no clue what treatment's really like, like my mother and kids. But you're right, I think we're at the beginning of a new era of enlightenment about HCV.

I've been up since 3AM, so no guarantees on this. Come to think of it, I'm not even sure this board supports html within comments. So, lets see if this works:

I think this will work:
<h1><a href="http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/metro/bell/20061021-9999-7m21bell.html"><font size="1"><b>http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/metro/bell/20061021-9999-7m21bell.html</b></font></a><b><font size="4" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular"><br>

Thanks a lot - that helped.  Here's hoping more "celebrities" and well known people will come out of the closet.  More exposure = more money for research.  Who knows, maybe we can start our own Hep C Quilt like they did for HIV.  One drawback, I can't even hem.

Thanks for the link. Poor guy, that must be rough trying to look ok for TV. I'd scare the entire viewing audience!

I also wanted to agree with you about being on the beginning of the arc of education about this disease. It does remind me of back when AIDS was first around. I lived in the Bay Area (SF) at that time and I remember it well. First I ever heard of it was people stapling flyers on telephone poles warning of the "gay cancer"
How incredibly far the education has come since then.

About your treatment, I am wondering why your doctor isn't considering a low dose IFN. treatment at this time to suppress the viral assault and possibly heal your liver at the same time.
I don't understand his reasoning in having you on no treatment since you have substantial damage now if low dose would help even if you don't clear the virus. I must have missed you posting about it, but if it was me I'd want to be trying to heal my liver even if I couldn't rid myself of the virus.
I know the new drugs look promising but there are still a lot of IFS before they will actually be here.
