Something Else to Worry About - HIV?

When it's determined that HCV is present, are we also then tested for HIV?  I read that about one-third of HIV infected people also have HCV.  What's the stats of HCV infected people with HIV?  Do I have anything else to worry about here?  Mike.

Good news....I'm HIV negative!  Honestly I'm starting to freak myself out between dealing with HCV and tx.  "Oraquick" is a 99.5% effective HIV antibody test with 20 minute results.  Now I'm back to the HCV fight.

Interestingly enough, when I told my therapist that I was too afraid to get an HIV test, she laughed. She said that was odd - that most people feel more stressed about getting the Hep test. She said that these days the HIV meds are so good that people are actually looking at Hep C as a more serious infection. Hmmmm. Don't know if that's true or just a bunch of horse pucky.

If you're a shooter then get tested.  Many shooters are infected w/both.  For peace of mind, get tested.  Your lifestyle, and only you know that, will give you a clue.  My ex was a chronic cheater, so I got tested for HIV b/they didn't test for hep c.  I was worried about the wrong thing!
