Started tx Today!

I have good and bad news. We'll the good news is that I started my tx today. I took the first shot of pegasys about 3 hours ago. When I injected in (in front of the nurse) .. I noticed some of the medicine leaked out of the injection area (there was a little clear fluid around the area). The nurse didn't seem too worried about it. I just popped my first 3 ribavirin pills (200 mg a piece). Taking it with some vitamin D milk and other food.

I'm not feeling that much different (no aches, pains, or nausea yet). I did have a small panic attack about 1 hour after the injection so I popped two 25mg xanax and that seemed to do the trick.

THE BAD NEWS:
My VL skyrocketed from 371,000 in February to 5.4 million! So I guess I no longer have the low pre-tx VL on my side.

Hopefully the injection leakage don't pose that big of a problem. I'll make sure I keep the needle inside me for about 10 seconds next time to make sure that I get every drop.

Can any of you recommend a good treatment plan (pills besides SOC).
Here's my regimen plan thus far:
Morning: 3 ribavirin (200mg), 1 men's daily multivitamin, 1 vitamin c
Night: 3 ribavirin (200mg)

Anything else anybody recommend I add to this mix?

Thanks for all of your support,
-- drew

Thanks everyone!

I'm not having much side effects yet. It's been about 8 hours - just went for some laps around the block on the bike. The only thing I'm feeling as of now is some mild pressure in my head (nothing bad at all). I'm really worried about that clear liquid (looked like the pegasys) that slightly leaked out of the injection area.. blood followed. Hopefully I got enough of the meds in me.

Well, as if we don’t already have enough meds to keep up with, my Dr. has recommended 800 I.U of vitamin E gel caps every day to help with dry skin side effects.  I don’t start tx till April 8th though.

Best of luck to ya.

Which Peg are you on? I found with Pegasys (not with Riba though), the intial hit was OK. With Pegetron, for me, about 4 hours after the shot, I suddenly had the highest fever I had ever had in my life (well over 100 / 40c).

Good luck! hope it all goes well for you, don't worry too much about the viral load I think. The 4 week PCR will be the big thing, you should have a pretty good idea with those results if this is going to work well.
