Starting Incivek 3 drug therapy

Starting Incivek 3 drug therapy

I am starting Incivek/Ribavirin/Interferon this Friday. I have taken treatment twice before once in 1998 and agaian in 2006. My viral load has increased and my gastro doc suggested I begin the new therapy. I am very anxious mainly about the Incivek, since I have never taken it and the side effects  that may occur are very scary to me. Do any of you have tips during therapy to help me? .

Congrats on getting started with triple therapy. Side effects vary  for everyone . some only mild and some more severe. You won"t really know until you get started how you will react.

Have you talked with your doctor about these possible side effects and his/her plan to manage them. Good idea to have frequent labs to monitor blood levels (hemoglobin in particular ) and have a plan in place to react  with rescue drugs
Be sure to drink plenty of water as this does help alleviate possible side effects
Are you a previous non-responded or did you relapse?

Good luck  and welcome to the group...

You'll find lots of help on this forum!!!  Lots of great suggestions too!!  Utilize the search function when you come across any... also it's good to talk to your doctor about his/her approach to anemia, whether it be dose reduction or procrit intervention... that's something I wish I had known to ask my doc before starting...

Best of luck to you and keep us posted!!!

I'm on my last week of incevik, the best things I can tell you is try to fined foods that you can stomach, I drink a protein shake with whole milk and peanut butter in the morning, take my incevik in afternoon with my lunch, eat a small dinner then maybe so ice cream at ten for my last dose. Drink a lot of water helps with the sides, even if you don't drink it now the medicine will make you thirsty so it's not to hard. Take the sides as they come, I went through the first twelve weeks with just fatigue and some nasea, never got the dredded rash. Also take a multi vitamin with d3 in it my doc thinks it helps with the rash. Good luck. Joe
