Starting to get energy back

One week after stopping meds and already I am getting my energy back. People haven't seen me move for almost a year.  I sneezed 3 times in a row and didn't feel like I was going to pass out.  I was expecting to wait at least 1 month before feeling the good effects.  My husband did the meds for 24 weeks. He kept saying to watch out because his came back early too. If this is the start of feeling better and great then I can't wait for a month to feel even that much more great.  God bless everyone that is doing the meds and that is not for going through this experience with me.

Hi,  I have been visiting this site since I started my tx 9/04.   I don't know how I would have gotten through my tx without reading all of these postings.   Next week is my last shot and my doctor called and said I don't have to take it.  I am torn because I don't want to take any chances and stop tx ahead of time.   I have been pretty lucky, except for the fatigue and the rotten itch, brain fog and the weepies, I have had manageable symptons.  I am on Neupogen and my doctor finally put me on Procrit.  I am not sure if she said I could quit because I have had some eye problems last weekend, or she feels I am ready to stop.   I only spoke to the nurse.   This site has definitely kept me informed.

Great News!  Oh, how good it feels to start getting energy back.  I remember it well.  Give me Hgb and high energy any day.

However, don't get discouraged if you don't get full energy level back right away.  I ride bicycles and my energy level came back FAST and then started slowing down.  At 1-mo post, I was still 1.1 down from my starting Hgb and at 6-mo post still .5 down from beginning Hgb.  I still can't keep up with my husband on the bike, but I couldn't before tx either.

I guess our bodies get so used to the meds that I thought I felt pretty good all thru tx...and really I did.  I just didn't realize how fatigued I was all the time til I did start getting the energy back and went back and read the journal I kept during tx.

Three cheers for energy.  And, everyone on tx, hang in there.  SVR is definitely worth it.

Thank you for posting.  I finish up the riba on Friday.  My hair has been falling out like rain for the past 3-4 wks, I gasp in the heat & humidity & come close to passing out sometimes, my house looks like a train wreck...if I have energy to cook, no energy to clean up.  When I try to write an involved letter, my mind is so weird I just sort of "get lost"...only capable of light thinking, no matter how heavy the subject.

So anyway...I just want to be functional in what I do and feel like myself again.  Feeling better in one week sounds great to me!

That's wonderful Gina. As mentioned, don't worry if you get little recurrences of sides-the meds are leaving slow but sure. Keep an eye on your hair and skin-it's fun to see it recover. Good health is just that-GOOD! frank

Yes, three cheers for energy.  That is my goal too.  To have more energy in the evenings.  I am so tired (literally) on the day being done at 5:00.

Great news Kicked.

Gina, what an encouraging post!  I'm so glad things are coming back together for you.   Guess you're not going to have to seek out saunas for extra detox...

Laika, last riba for me on Friday as well.  Your description was perfect, unlike our housekeeping.

Lynne and Deb, good info.  Thanks!

For someone who is only in week 6 of tx, (and every week so far has seemed at least a month long), it is magic when someone posts like you did. How I hope I make it to where you are now - it must be such a great feeling for everyone who has made it through! Thanks for giving the rest of us hope and great good luck to you!

It is so good to hear that you are feeling better. Just take it easy and not overdo it right away. I felt great that first week (maybe because I was on vacation) but hte second week hit me like a ton of bricks. Hopefully this won't happen to you. I might have just overdone it. So go slow, these drugs we were on are heavy duty and need time to get out of your system too. Good luck to you.
