Still UND - 2 weeks post tx!

Still UND - 2 weeks post tx!

Prove 1 and Prove 2 results show that if a relapse occurs after successful tx, it will happen within the first 4 weeks after stopping tx.

I just found out that my 2 week post-tx (Week 26) came back still UND!  How cool is that!

Right after completing Prove 3, my AST & ALT were elevated.  My doc said it was because of the INF.  Both are now in the mid-normal range which I'm also taking as a good sign.

I'm not out of the woods yet but I'm very happy to be standing on the edge and hoping for SVR.

When I get to 12 weeks post tx and still UND, I'll breathe easier.  Last week at AASDL data was presented that Prove 1 &  Prove 2 patients who successfully completed VX950+INF+RBV tx; had an EVR by Week 4; remained UND throughout tx and remained UND to post tx Week 12; that 100% went on to be UND by post tx Week 24.  Which is cured.

My fingers are crossed.

Your news is great...
I have been reading your post for several weeks. I've only posted one time before. I am in week 22 of
Prove 3, @ week four I was UND. I have remained UND. So your news is extremely hopeful. We knew immediately I was in the treatment arm because of the unbelievable rash.   There aren't enough words to adequately descibe it.  I have worked full time through out treatment.  When things got really bad like the rash, the anemia and wbc's down to 1.2  I would read that you were still hanging in there and it gave me hope to continue. I could not remain on  treatment if I did not have the love and support of my husband and children. I do know yet if I am in the 48 week arm. I should know soon. Congratulations on your journey and I continue to wish you SVS.

Thanks guys.  It's not over but I'm happy where it's heading.

Went to Prove 3 cinic again today for a post-tx Week 3-4 blood draw and EKG.  My doc said to be cautious but very oppomistic to be cured.

20+ years in sales have made my outlook ike the old cop in "The Firm".  His line in the movie, "I get paid for being suspicious when there's nothing to be suspicious about" is something I relate to.  It hasn't sunk-in yet that I could be cured.  The nurse today was taking blood and the needle came out with blood everywhere...I still freaked out.

mom713 - you made my day.  Please keep us posted if you are 24 or 48 weeks and how you are doing.  How many times before have you treated?

It sure looks good from here.

I have been worried ever since the Scherring-Plough PI boceprevir trial posted poor results with prior treatment failures.  What I seem to be seeing however is that the people of Prove 3 who have posted here seem to be gettting RVR's, they seem to be maintaining the clearance of the virus BOTH thru the end of the first "12" (of triple therapy)  and also maintain that clear status thru the second "12" (standard SOC).  We are now seeing reports that they are also maintaining that status of undetectable thru the weeks post treatment.  It's looking very good for those who participated in this trial and who got on a triple therapy arm.  That bodes well for the many prior treatment failures that simply don't have another decent form of treatment left.  I am also hoping that those on the Boceprevir trial have good results.

My congrats Mike.  We're all pulling for you and the other Prove 3's.

best,
Willy

I would say that is very good news.  My H's had his Heptimax rerun 2 weeks after he completed week 48 (the reason is too convoluted to give but it happened)  and his viral load was already at 151 (UND at week 48) so they did a Heptimax right away again which would have been 4 weeks post and the viral load was already at 21,000 so I am of the belief that it can come back very shortly after discontinuation for certain people.

GREAT for you, keeping fingers crossed. Will you check again at week 4 as you said relaspe will show within 4 , instead of being on pins and needles until week 12?
