Stress, Food and Liver Pain

Hi All.

Question.

I have been so stressed today that I've done something I don't normally do, especially since starting TX; PIG-OUT on junk food.

Chips, Donuts, Reeses Pieces, Veggie Sushi (great in MODERATION -NOT today),
Famous Amos pecan chocolate chip cookies, Cheeze-its, (I'm getting ill just writing this)

And (breath) I now have a dull throbbing pain in the liver area.

Think there's a connection? :-(

who'd begrudge you a little stress eating considering all the stuff youre going through right now? of course you don't eat like that all the time who could? I'm just glad that our bodies "usually" tell us us what they are havin, and what they won't have, and that their are honest, forthcoming people like you out there to give us gentle reminders...be well and take care.....

Honestly I think tx  makes you "crave" sugar and junk food. The cravings are so similar to pregnancy it's weird! Im not suprised you had a junk food frenzy

I never did crave goodies before tx but on tx I have. Ice cream? Hadn't eaten any in years, on tx I crave it. What the heck is that about? I see so many of us with an ice cream thing, pretty strange side effect! I figure it has something to do with messing with the HCV which messes with our whole insulin production/resistance thing.

"I'm gonna say that wasn't liver pain. Stress gas bloating, whatever. I'm also going respectfully add, WHATCHOO DOIN' FOOLLLL???? YO GONNA KILL YO'SEFF EATIN LIKE DAT!!!

When you're right, you're right.

hahahaha

I never eat like that.  Don't know what happened.  It was like an out-of-body experience, like watching SOMEONE else take over my body and pig out on all the things they've dreamed about for, who knows centuries, and aren't sure when they'll ever have the chance to satisfy those urges again - and - now that's the meds talking.) But it WON'T happen again.

And if it does, I'm gonna come on the forum and confess again.

It's one thing for me to tell myself what an idiot I am.  It's another to have dozens of other folk tell me the same thing.  :-)

I think some of us are pretty sensitive and in tune with our bodies...

Liver or Gallbladder? Both in the same area but gall bladder has more to do with digesting fatty foods. Do you still have a gallbladder? Might have killed it with your menu! LOL I'm NOT one to talk. I have the worst diet in the world and saying that makes me want to get up and get a big bowl of rocky road!

Thanks, FSG.
Between the junk food and the tx I really did a number on myself.

I think drama-induced stress pushed me into binge mode so I can only imagine how you felt!

But today's another, better day.

Hopefully it will stay like this for a while.  :-)

(Just did shot #8 and am gonna lie down.)

I think some of us are pretty sensitive and in tune with our bodies...some people also have a higher pain threshold and don't feel pain as much as others (luckys) I know I ate a stinky chicken hotdog (I'm kind of a health freak and I don't eat stuff like that too often) and I got a pain there in my liver (prob traveling gas for all I know), then in my stomach...it was like my body was telling me, hey fool, what's up with this?? :) I ate a few digestive enzymes from Vitamin Shoppe ( they are really, really cheap), and it took care of it in about 20 min or so...so God knows...hope youre feeling better now of course...

Hey my liver started to hurt just reading what you ate today!

Im kidding with you but honestly, you don't want to consume any processed foods or anything with refined sugar in it. Nothing on your list of foods is good for your liver or good for any part of you.

Contrary to what others have said, I think all that garbage you ate today IS why your liver hurts.

Its very hard to eat right on tx with your appetite all goofed up and your taste our of whack!

Curious why you are insistent it is the liver when the other organs are much more likely candidates.

I would love if you can post a link that the liver can even show pain from food or drugs. Do cirrhotic patients walk around with constant liver pain?

Funny you mention that. I know someone with pancreatic cancer and they had that 'whipple procedure'. A few hours later he started having very severe pain and
ultimately went into cardiac arrest. They found out he was bleeding into his liver  Also had a friend that had hep B years ago and her alt/ast scores went up into the hundreds. She said her liver felt like a big hot rock inside of her and was the most intense pain she'd ever felt. My parents neighbor died of liver cancer ( at 85) and was heavy doses of pain med so yeah, it would seem you can feel pain in your liver. HOWEVER, liver cancer is a FAR CRY from eating some chocolate chip cookies.

WITH THAT SAID, I'll be curious to hear wyntres' dr'.s reponse when he tells him that some junk food made his liver hurt.

Over the years I've brought a few crazy theories to my doctors. Not one of 'em ever panned out.

Probably gave yourself a stomach ache and the food is processing in your intestines...that easily can seem like it's in the liver area believe it or not.

Unfortunately I know that from pigging out myself. For so long I couldn't eat and then one day I was STARVING and ate every thing Icould find...ugh.

Painful later on.

It will go away, don't sweat it.

LOL you are so cute. You make me laugh.

I tell you - the STUPID questions I would have asked my doctor if I hadn't had this board to bounce things off of......it's amazing!  Did you EVER think you could become so truly OBSESSIVE about your liver of all things?

It freaks me out. One minute a normal life the next...liver liver liver liver liver liver...that's it!

(PS Don't say you are a moron...just say you are a bad victim of brain fog - don't you know by now we blame that for EVERYTHING! ;)

Oh,

You mean Brian? (Fog)

I'm growing strangely fond of that guy.  There's something somehow endearing about him; like he doesn't mean to be so obnoxious and would really like to fix it but just can't help himself.  It's his nature.

To be honest, so far I've gotten ALL of my medical advice concerning tx off of this forum. I've never asked my doc a single question since I've been treating. My doc appointments last about 2 minutes. He looks at my tests and tells me what they are, writes any Rx's I need and sends me on my way. It's worked for me so far.

This place is a gold mine of information.

Martian, I'm a slow learner but I really learned my lesson.

I-horn - I agree.  This place makes me seem Sooooo well-informed, responsible, and competent to my Dr.  (I know you all find that difficult to believe!  hahahaha

I think that's why he keeps offering me anti-depressents.  It's as if he Thinks I should be depressed, is Waiting for me to confess I'm depressed, and can't figure out Why I'm NOT depressed.  (well, not THAT depressed, yet).

The reason I'm not is probably partially coz i get to explore, inquire, research, vent and joke around here.

"With that said, I'll be curious to hear wyntres' dr'.s reponse when he tells him that some junk food made his liver hurt."

Oh, no.  hahahah.  I screen all my doctor questions on the forum, first, so I don't seem like an either BIGGER moron than I am when I actually see the gastro.

(I figure it doesn't matter if YOU GUYS know how dumb I am and besides, it might give someone a laugh.)  :)

Off to the steam room to sweat out all those carbs and sweets, ugh!

I'm really gonna try juices, fresh fruits and veggies, now.  Good thing about the pig out is I can't even STAND the THOUGHT of the TASTE (or texture) of any of that junk.

Have a great day all.

See?  I'm better already.  As the saying goes, "if it doesn't KILL you it will make you stronger!

Good to see you!  It's always good to see someone we've been wondering "how the heck have ya been"?  Speaking of food, I'm hungry.  I'm thinking a bowl of Campbells clam chowder  (that's real low fat eh?) Might even have a grilled cheese sannnich with it.

That's what I get for being such a piggy.

DM - how are you?  How's the new mandolin (or was it one you were repairing?)

Are you back home and comfy, I hope?

Sounds like the way I pig out. Love that stuff. My problem, my gallbladder goes nuts with all that fat. The pain is centered and a little bit over my liver when it happens.

Hope you can get through it. I still enjoy those munchies but in moderation.

regards,
